Like, when you're in a conversation with an NPC and they give you dialogue options. Any games where they don't just stand there staring at you blankly until you answer? Where they react to the awkward silence?

NPCs, in gaming and real life, always stand there, staring blankly into space. It's why they are NPCs.

I did that with the first Telltale Walking Dead game and it was hilarious. It just kind of makes a choice for you if I remember correctly.

I think these are a unique situation that does it well with timed decisions. Not making a decision is equally a choice that can effect the situation.

Funny, I was watching a stream where dude started playing Cyberpunk and this was what made me think of the topic. Then of course as soon as I post, the NPC says "C'mon, I don't have all fucking day".

Not answering will have an effect in Firewatch, but I've never actually tried it. There is a little countdown bar for you to respond after Delilah finishes talking, you can just let it run down to ignore her.

Yeah, there's a few games like this, where not answering within a certain time will itself count as an answer. Which occasionally overlaps with "..." if that's a dialogue option as well.

Then in a similar vein, there's a few games where people will react if you walk away in the middle of a conversation, or if you start hitting the skip button to fast-forward through their dialogue.

Correct. Walking Dead for instance gives you a time limit to answer in, and not giving an answer is a valid choice too. Think that there were others that pick for your character randomly if you don't within the time limit.

Fallout 4 will do this with the protag if you skip dialogue with a "Mmhmm" or a "You don't say". And when you get drunk, you get sillier responses.

The Bard's Tale, the 2004 one with Cary Elwes as the Bard and Tony Jay as the narrator - who frequently argue with each other - has both consequences for fast forwarding one long dreary conversation (there is a reward for letting him finish his tale), and Jay snarking if you idle too long. "And lo there came a time when the Bard did...nothing."

I believe Fallout 4 & Skyrim do this, but it varies based on the NPC, if you take too long to respond they may say something like "Well, are you going to say something?".

Was going to mention this as well.
