Id like it. Much like with other systems, if it is something worth going for, it adds an extra layer to the game for me. And if I dont think it looks worthwhile, then I just dont do it.

I think Id enjoy it the most with the retro games through Switch Online.

yes, at least for new games. they don't need to add them to NSO or anything but would be nice if switch 2 games had them at least. some games have their own built in like the castlevania collection. no reason to not have them when sony and microsoft have been doing it for 2 decades now.

Who cares about stupid shit developers have you do to get an achievement that means nothing. I hated them ever since they started.

  1. That's not happening.
  2. Every console manufacturer has a clause in their ToS that allows them to potentially brick their consoles.

Yeah, I liked the idea they had with some of the Wii U games(I think it was) where you earn stickers in game for various feats. Seemed like a unique spin on the trophy idea.

Take it a step further and give each account a dashboard to decorate with our collectables from various games. Maybe you could get a bobble head or something instead of a platinum, or maybe a little poster along side the stickers. Let us display our finest moments or just make a cozy space with our favorites. Of course, I'd also say give the option to turn it off entirely as well, but I think if done right it could be a fun little side activity to accompany each game.

Nah. I have gone out of my way to get platinum trophies before, but after that, it's just like, okay guess I'm done. I prefer in-game objectives and rewards over that. Some games manage to do silly things with them like a certain moment in Portal 2, but generally speaking, they rarely add anything other than a nagging sense of incompletion.

No idea why anyone cares about this at all. I always look at the trophies on the games and to get the platinum it's like "collect all 10000 jars scattered throughout the world and collect 600 of all non-jar items". Why on earth would I want to do that?

Yes, even if it's something as simple as progress-milestones. There are some devs (Supraland, specifically) who use them for that exact purpose, as a way to gauge where interest drops in their games.

I see no downside to having such a system. If you don't care about them, think they're stupid, a waste of time, etc... just ignore them. They'd still be there for people who do enjoy them.

What's interesting is Nintendo has made games with their own achievement systems built in. Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario, Smash, Animal Crossing, Mario Odyssey, Bayonetta, some of the Fire Emblem games, etc. They obviously see the value in it, they're just too lazy to make it a universal system like every other major console/storefront.

It's better as an ingame incentive to unlock things and have it focused on the individual game over a cosmetic platform based system that only incentivizes stroking epeens over an ecosystem. And the fact that it's required for most of those systems makes it harder on a bunch of non-shovelware devs.

They already have that avatar system. I think it would be neat if they had exclusive ones as achievements.

I dont see why people hate achievements. You dont need to do them at all. But if I like a game enough and i want to squeeze more playtime out of it, it gives me a tangible reason.
