I was super addicted to it and came dangerously close to failing my senior year of highschool because of the sheer amount of hours I dumped into it in just 2 months. (I was graduating that may when it dropped in NA january 31st 2001. That is how much I played this damn game, lol). Got into yelling matches with my mom because she used to get on me for how much I clogged up the phone line with that game on the dreamcast. (Her friends and acquaintances used to page her to complain about not being able to get through when I was on the net). When I got the broadband adapter for the gamecube and we swapped the internet over to that sweet AT&T DSL it was like magic to me. Some of the friends I met in this game became my life-long friends IRL with two of them becoming my best friends. My older brother met my boy's older brother and so they started hanging out in their own online gaming groups. The group of online gamers I chilled with across the original xbox, champions of norrath, everquest online and resident evil outbreak on the PS2, the xbox 360, the wii, the PS3, the PS4, wii u, all the online capable portables, maple story for a short time, world of warcraft, city of heroes, xbox one, steam, and the PS5?.....that exact same phantasy star online friend group+our family and friends. Yeah, game had a community so awesome I legit created friends for life because of this game. I would easily do it all over again. Phantasy star online episode 1 and 2 on the gamecube is my favorite video game of all-time. I also agree that phantasy star online 2 is ass and that while it is neat the fans keep the older games alive via fan-servers I desire a true successor to what PSO blue burst or hell even phantasy star portable 2 infinity was. --- GTag:MadDogg730 PSN:lMadDogg NNID:xMadDoggx NS friend code:5313-0564-0819 Go buy cyber shadow like right now. ... Good times.Yeah the 4 player split-screen was such a awesome move for it's time. If I wasn't no-lifing the online mode I used to play a lot of split-screen with my brother, and 2 of my nephews. My first level 200 character was my hunewearl mad-dawg. (Spelled in a way to where she could have the redria section ID). I played so much PSO that I used to remember the most notable rare drops by heart for each section ID, lol. With redria it was pretty easy to get god/battles so I used to gather them up and give them to all of my friends and family. I also used to know how to raise mags without needing a guide lol (I really, really loved me some PSO) so my friends was constantly dumping their mags off on me to raise them up. If I wasn't actively playing the game (I was a real night owl. My family used to own this little tiny TV we had set up on the kitchen counter, which is also in the area of the house where the family PC+modem was set up. I used to plug up my gamecube to the tiny TV on the kitchen counter and raise mags while using the bigger TV next to the PC+modem to watch adult swim. The sealab 2021, space ghost coast to coast, brak show, aqua teen hunger force, mission hill, inuyasha just starting up, tenchi universe, original gundam, mobile suit gundam 0083 and 0080, and harvey birdman attorney at law era). I have so much nostalgia for that time in my life. PSO episode 1 and 2 on the cube' with that small TV and adult swim watching on the other TV, lol. I had the Gamecube version for the longest time and never played it. About 4 years ago, I finally turned it on and played through it offline, start to... almost finish. I didn't beat the final boss because I was deeply underleveled and it would've taken some serious grinding. A strange experience playing through it offline, so very long after it was popular. It's kind of a simple and repetitive game, basically an endless grind, so it's not my favorite. But at the same time, it's enjoyable enough. So I did not play Phantasy Star Online. Super_Slash posted... Yeah, but did you ever find that god damned Psycho Wand or Heaven Punisher?I never found either of these two. Mine was dupes sadly. I did however find my own lavis cannon. Via redria's splitting of the rare red slimes. I used that toward the future quest to farm them.....at least I think that was the name. Once I finally found it, I made a oran hucaseal just so I can hunt the rare Hildetors for that syncesta item (I think that is the name bare with me lol) that transforms the lavis cannon to the lavis blades, and then another to transform it into the double cannon. This was by far my favorite hunted down rare. Mine had different stats compared to all the duped lavis cannons out there so I felt all special lol. Thing was like 30 native 25 hit or something. (I knew about rerolling on the tekker so you don't get those crap 5 percents. Thats how you knew someone screwed up and didn't know about tekking, lol). My second favorite rare was my monkey King bar. I busted my ass doing ultimate seabed runs to hunt down the purple squids since that was where it dropped for redria. i've gotten the lavis series before. a shame it's pretty outclassed. other notable rares i've fought are: psycho wand 801, 101, 502, s-parts201. sadly the game's balance kinda means that many rares suck. braveman, vise, and vjaya are common and top-tier. wands/rods only matter if they have element boosts, and basic ass charge partisans/swords/vulcans with hit outclass most rares in general i've used every class so far except for racaseal, which feels super redundant. while it is the best at landing instant death in the game, its damage is just too low and its defense is less valuable that racast's higher hp. at least humar offers a still-high atp with much better ata than hucast and ramarl and hunewearl are really good when there isn't already a force i really wanna finish challenge mode at some point. i think it's a really good spin on the regular game flow ... With the way the game's combat worked nothing was better than getting some basic mechguns, having charge on them, and hoping they had high hit for max deeps. Any multi-hitting weapon like double sabers, twin daggers, or for rangers shotgun type weapons with charge. Frozen shooter for easy freezys or the ep1 and 2 nerfed spread needle that still did a good job with paralyzing. Some rares was still pretty good though. One of my main weapons was the meteor cudgel double saber since it's freeze special actually used to hit. Monkey king bar was also pretty good since it had the devil cut HP special on it.
