But I do think that Gamefreak is still approaching it like a handheld game, rather than a console game. The graphics remind me of the Ys and Trails of Cold Steel games that Nihon Falcom originally released on the PS Vita. The opaque windows and flat lighting especially stand out. But Nihon Falcom eventually upgraded to a new engine that improved on those things they couldn't really pull off on handhelds. Hopefully Gamefreak eventually does the same. What does concern me, though, is the fact that the entire game takes place in this single city.
