McRib has infamy in being "limited edition" fast food. It's more of the gimmick status than anything. I could easily swap it for the McDonald's fries though which are pretty distinctive and I feel kinda bad not including.

Do it. McRib sucks butt anyway, is available one month a year if supplies even last that long, and is a dumb gimmick. McDonald's fries are a meme for a reason.

I would have gone with the McGriddle if it werent for the fact that, upon an unreliable quick google that could very easily be wrong, McMuffins were the first breakfast sandwich of its kind. Given how ubiquitous they are now, its hard not to vote for the trailblazing item. Pancakes with syrup for the bread is fucking ingenious though.

PS it irks me that the word genius and ingenious have different spellings in adjective form.

Surprised at the lack of McFlurries in the answers - it made a huge impact on my friend group and family. Maybe it's bigger in the UK than the US.

The ice cream machines at US McDonald's are almost always broken, so nobody ever goes there for anything ice cream related.

Wendys is the only one where the Ice cream has to be on it (other than DQ of course)

Makes sense. It's actually not that unusual here to go in just for a McFlurry! They're rotated often too with typically 3 options available, so there's normally something you'd like.

Except they don't advertise "Big Mac meal with Coca Cola" as a specific item. They advertise Happy Meals very specifically.

Are you sure? I thought you had to choose your drink and main course with a happy meal. That makes it even less of a specific item than a Big Mac meal.

I mean technically every major item is advertised as being part of a combo on the menu aside from like Dollar Menu stuff

For the record I agree the Happy Meal should be allowed. Pretty specific menu item. Not sure I'd vote for it but should be allowed

McFlurries are staples, definitely top 10, but not quite top 4.

I've thought this over - not changing my vote, but if I were to imagine a real mountain carved into 4 items for McD's, it'd be: a Big Mac, drink, fries, and a Happy Meal box.

Heres a McDonalds confession of my own, as long as Im talking: Ive never had the filet-o-fish before. Both my mom and my brother would get it frequently if we had McDonalds, but I just cant say that I find the idea of fast food fish to be very appealing. And now that I think about it, Im quite certain Ive never had the McRib, either.

If we're doing confessions, Big Mac is the worst burger on the menu. It's almost all bread and Mac sauce is bad.

Quarter Pounder is definitely the superior burger item IMO, having the correct ratio of bread to filling.

I'd also argue that Double Quarter Pounder goes too far the other way, and exposes the blandness of the patty.

Neither of those takes is exactly hot

Single QP/C is the best burger McDonald's offers on their main menu (secrets notwithstanding), but imo it's not quite as iconic as their other offerings, which apparently includes their trash breakfast sandwich. I'm just glad I'm not the only McGriddles voter now. McMediocre ain't even branded with the McD's arches, if you wanna talk about iconic. For shame on most of you!
