I like Brennan a lot, arguably more than Matt's GMing in this last campaign, but I still think this is a baffling decision for the company to make. I'm getting flashbacks to when their first episode of C3 started and Travis didn't show up for the first couple hours despite being there in the announcements at the start. The entire chat was just asking where he was. Most of CR's fan base isn't looking at these announcements, they're going to be super annoyed if they tune in and Matt's not there in the GM seat.

Yea, he is going to be a player.

Matt's done it three campaigns and like a ton of side content. He's had to do a LOT of writing, doing campaign settings, contributing to other creative endeavors. And this between voice acting and other stuff

Man probably needs a break here. God knows he made that money

They've not announced what system. On the one hand, I feel like they'd just say if they were doing 5e. On the other hand, Brennan hasn't played Daggerheart

Im assuming this is because Matt Mercer wants to do something different with his time. He's the core of the show, but also people get tired.

GMing can be very tiring. He's written three campaigns, woven them into one another and had to keep tracks of tons of characters, plot lines and so forth. This is in between having to voice act, recall dozens, if not hundreds of creatures, dungeons, bosses, encounters, and think tactically to challenge players.

I don't particularly care about Critical Role but I care very much about Dropout.

I can't explain how hyped I am for this! Brennan Lee Mulligan and Matt Mercer are my top 2 D&D personalities, full stop. DM or player, they're both absolutely phenomenal and you cannot match their excitement for the game. I'm really looking forward to what Mercer can do with a proper full campaign character. And I can't think of a DM I'd rather take the helm to allow it to happen.

As far as the system, I could honestly see it going either way. Sticking with 5e would make sense due to Brennan's familiarity with it, but Daggerheart is also kinda CR's thing and it would make sense their flagship campaign would use the brand new system they want to hype. I did thoroughly enjoy Age of Umbra, so I'm willing to give either system a chance.

He's still playing, but it it's definitely less of a full time job than GMing

Damn, the DM is no longer MM and is now BLM.

I'm not even sure that falls under the purview of land management.

I'm partial to Robert Hartley over at Viva la Dirt League myself but Brennan is probably my 2nd favourite.

VTM would be awesome... but I really doubt they'd do it. That being said -- as a forever GM myself, you gotta take a break every now and again. Also, I LOVE daggerheart. I've run a one shot and I'm looking forward to doing something longer.

Yeah, they've done one shots and miniseries in other games, but if they do swap the main campaign, it's definitely be Daggerheart since they created it

I can understand him wanting to step back and just being a player, sometimes you just get tired of GM'ing and would like a break to just be the player

The CoC one is pretty fun. Taliesin had a few practical props. The one I remember was a "mystic talisman" that was actually a heat-pack they used to activate a handheld stirling engine.

I'm sure I've seen it but i don't remember the Call of Cthulhu game right now

If C4 turned out to be set in Spyre, the world Fantasy High takes place in, how mad would people be <_<
