A combination of control, and the concept of morals and regulations for you, but not for me, which just ties back into control. Honestly, one of the big reasons for the conservative/fascist rise across the world is many people are just finally being open about what theyve always wanted, which was to have power over others, so they are allowed to do things or have things, and they can prevent as many others as possible from doing it or having it as well. That was always the case, but its just being presented out in the open now.

I think its just an excuse to get your data. They can blame "protecting the children" or whatever, and then make it mandatory for you to provide your drivers license, address, picture, etc... just to go use it, and that means that all these evil tech companies harvesting your data as much as possible now just... have even more power.

The porn isn't going anywhere, they're just making it more expensive.

And of course, it certainly helps its also an avenue for control and far-right politics and whatnot.

I can think of a few reasons, In some parts its Puritan Christian groups slowly have been getting more power and influence to push their anti porn agenda under the guise of "Protect women and children" like collective shout

In others its an easy win politically because not many people are willing to opening come out in defense of porn and while people might grumble, Its not usually an issue that will dissuade voters compared to much bigger issues

and then there is the fact that its going to be used by companies to harvest personal date like never before.. I dont trust companies to not end up selling it and you know they are going to make bank with selling names and potential interests

Fascism is definitely back in a big way. The Overton window has shifted massively in our lifetimes. You can literally go to a store and buy an album by a guy who says he loves Hitler and released a song praising him right now. No one cares. But literal adults consenting to be in a sexual video? I don't think it has much to do with data collection. Our data has been out there for years, and we continue to spew it forth in return for access to what is mostly a pile of crap, a lot of it of our own making.

I don't even think they care about the porn itself. Except insofar as there are lots of votes in 'protecting children from harmful material'.

Birth rate one feels like some real conspiracy thing. And it also doesn't even make sense - south korea is famous for having an extremely low birth rate and they have very tight identity-internet controls as well, not just as a new thing but going back nearly 2 decades at this point. the creation/distribution of porn is already illegal there. and it's clearly not helping the birth rate

The bottom one is just a non-answer. Even if far right christo-nazis want to ban porn, it's not like they want to ban porn because they are far right. They want to achieve some sort of goal (probably either 4, 3, or 1 in that order of likelihood) and so it would make more sense to attribute the actual motivation to one of those

They use "protect the children" as an excuse to force everyone to give up more information about themselves, further removing their anonymity online. This goes hand in hand with the desire to censor things they don't want people talking about, like taxing billionaires, union formations, protest organizing, Israel, etc.
