Watched the first two episodes, they seem to have a pretty good handle on what they're doing here. Johnny Hardwick's performance as Dale is probably the roughest part, but not much you can do about aging. I think I saw he did about 75% of the show before passing so I assume I won't be hearing Toby Huss for a while. More mature Bobby is pretty good, and I like Keith David as the new guy though I hope they add a little more to his character than just being The Normal Guy compared to everyone else. Love the unspoken joke of Megalo Mart having a new shitty font for its logo and I thought the bit about Hank getting freaked out by hybrid car engines idling was a good bit.

I did not know this had come out (thought it was the 7th for some reason) until I saw the Peggy "Saw Die Arahbia" clip last night, which is enough to know they got the assignment. Will be tackling it soon!

Two episodes in, coming at this from the angle of someone who was very, very much into the original show.

It's good so far! First episode felt like it got some of the expected jokes out of the way in episode 1, and contextualized it well by having Hank and Peggy come back after being away for such a long time. Hank's personality is right in the money, and Peggy is the worst which is correct. Bobby is the best so far, but I think I've liked everyone so far well enough, outside of maybe the VA work for Dale which is rough but expected.

Peggy herself does feel older in a way that makes sense, and it's very funny that Hank and Bobby have realized the best way to handle her is to basically just go "oh sure, yep, uh huh" when she says something crazy. Amazing how Joseph sounds more like Redcorn now than ever despite actively becoming more like Dale, they really followed the trajectory there.

Also a small thing, but I like how Bill actually looks like he got obese and then lost a ton of weight by episode 2 rather than just reverting to "older Bill".

The animation was jarring at first, it's not like it looked bad it's just a different method than what the series used to be which is always gonna stand out, but it's faithful enough.

Just a bit into episode 3, but it's been such a good idea to have Bobby always contemplating a dumb plan or decision he would have gone through with as a kid, only to actually get to the moment and know what he actually should do.

Bobby asking "Are periods angry?" When trying to write a text is the most relateable line in a TV show I have ever heard.

watched all ten episodes yesterday

wasn't a fan of how laser-focused they were on woke-adjacent issues, but the minute to minute humor was still good

I think they really got the feel of the old show well and I appreciate it just being a new season of the old show

Emilio is great. I'm really glad the restaurant is a staple location for the season.

Loved the friend trio just coming back together to chill, hope that dynamic stays for a while.

Finished it, thought it was really good! Definitely better than the last few seasons, I really hope they get to do more. I agree that it was just a new set of KotH episodes but it really felt like the jump in time matters. Bobby was the highlight for sure.

Wild that this feels so successful at what it set out to do after so much time when Futurama fell on it's face trying this like 4 times between now and then.

Watched the whole season and I loved it, but the timeline compared to the original series just keeps bugging me. Like, it's a bit less than ten years later but most of the characters seem more like fifteen-ish years older. The only ones where the ages feel right are Bobby and his friends, but also there's not really much plot reason they all had to be early 20s instead of mid 20s. Not sure what the writers were going for with the timeskip length they chose.

Then again, KotH never really made much sense in terms of time passing anyway, so yeah.

Judge knows how to do revivals. Almost half way through KotH and I've been enjoying it. Will follow up once finished.

Just finished season. I thought it was good! Basically just felt like more King of the Hill.

Took a moment to get used to some voice changes that happened (particularly Kahn's) but I guess I adjusted pretty quick by associating it to the time skip. I also thought Joseph's new voice especially worked for his age.

As mentioned by others, Bobby and the restaurant stuff was a highlight. I was kind of surprised how great adult Bobby was. Emillio was also a great new character.

I was kind of hoping Willow would stick around in some capacity as a friend to the gang (despite what happened) but hey maybe she'll show up again at some point. Weakest episode was probably ep 9 but Hank gradually connecting with GH and the Cotton flashbacks helped. I hope we get more of Big Bro Hank and GH bonding as well as Bobby hanging out with his uncle. I appreciated some of the continuity "retcons" being addressed like the whole Bill and Kahn's mom thing. Also curious how the Connie stuff will play out.

Episode 9 was the weakest but it was still good, and honestly I think it fit well with the characters. Hank would absolutely take a video like that at face value at first and then immediately start realizing something was up as soon as he got there. It did feel like a later season original run episode, though, while the rest of the season felt more like middle years KotH.

Aww I liked episode 9. Joseph was a surprise, I used to dislike that character after he hit puberty but adult Joseph is a great direction for his character. I really hated the Khan voice at first but by the end of the episode it was basically just Khan I didnt really notice as much.

It was weird that episode 9 censored the swearing when none of the other episodes did.

Not that there was a lot of swearing....but episode 9 had multiple, so maybe that "only one allowed per movie" rule applies here too for episodes?

Naw the F bomb was uncensored usually, or at least it was uncensored when Chang said it at his frat.

I've seen people complain about the timeline not making sense anymore, and it's like, the KotH timeline matters 5% more than the Simpsons timeline.

Original King of the Hill frequently contradicted itself, changed history, and essentially redid the same story for an episode under a different writer...arguably 3 times in one case (which one this was specifically is escaping me, something with Bobby having to get the same lesson 3 times over the show's run)!

The people complaining about Cranky Kong and Pauline being in Bananza at the same time had more of a leg to stand on lol.

The only thing that doesnt really make sense is how old G.H. is now, but I think that change was smart, we can see how an older Hank deals with a kid who is the age Bobby was at the time of the old show.

I guess the question of how long they were in Saudi Arabia is a little unclear; if Bobby is 21 then they may have only been gone 3-4 years, unless they left while he was still in high school which would be a little weird. The whole Texas changed a lot while we were gone thing would work a little better if they were away for like 7 or 8 years.

But the original show had plenty of inconsistencies, particularly about Peggys childhood and family (and thatd be true even without the infamous Montana episode)

According to the official thing it says eight years and Bobby does seem like he should be a few years older than 21 despite him being confirmed 21 in the show.

Did Bobby go with them to Saudi Arabia? The opening shows him leaving along with Hank and Peggy, but then he's obviously back in the States before them, since he's opened up the restaurant by the time they get back.

I'd assume he went for part of the stay, at least until he finished high school. Bobby had been out of touch with Connie for years.

Well that's the problem with no one aging for 13 seasons in the first place. There's no correct way to age them now.

Just finished it. It was quite literally just more KotH episodes. And I mean that in a good way. Jokes were good. Plots were entertaining.

Recommend it.

All this glowing praise I need to get off my ass and watch it already
