I'm looking at used cars online and I want manual and jeeps come up in the search, I've never driven one, am I missing out? Are they mostly for people who do a lot of outdoorsy stuff?

Yes. Wranglers have solid front axels so they are one of the few "off road" vehicles that are actually built for off roading and not mall crawling. You also get to join a cool club and get little ducks on your dashboard.

Because of their unique looks and off road capability. They are terrible for daily drivers though because of driving dynamics and poor build quality.

They have changed over the years but it used to be different decades ago. They were good for off road/camping excursions. They were great for the fact that you could just hose them out after serious off-roading and didnt need to be concerned about the interior. They were a cheap alternative to convertibles which were either sports cars or old classic muscle cars.

So now they are expensive, you cant just hose them out, and are more just standard road vehicles and I feel the build quality is way less. I never owned one but my good friend had one when I was in the Navy. This was mid 90s and he had an older 70s Jeep and we would go to Daytona beach with that on the weekend where you could drive on the beach. Very relaxing and the women loved it. It was so easy to engage in conversations and end up with some fun and attractive companions for the weekend.

I have a Gladiator and love it

I do a ton of hiking and camping so it always comes in handy and I own a business where I have to pull a trailer full of equipment for jobs. Taking the roof off literally takes 2 min and is awesome for the beach. Great for any other outdoor activity I need as well. Plenty of room for my kayak or fishing gear. I also think its a great feel for driving, but thats hit or miss for others

That being said when I get a new vehicle Im going back to a standard truck for easier work capabilities

Im not big on the culture though. Ill wave to other owners to be nice

This board seems to hate them though. I dont personally get the hate, but then again I dont understand why people hate half the stuff the say they do

Taking the doors off and getting stuck in puddles in the middle of nowhere.

That's a Jeep thing you wouldn't understand.

My coworker has a jeep and has a headlight burned out, which is normally a diy $5 fix but apparently her specific model requires the entire front part of the chassis to be removed to access the lights so she had to take it to the dealer for an expensive repair.
