I'm using a 360 controller and the amount of wall jumping I had to do is killing me!

If only I could rebind the attack button to RT, that would alleviate a lot of the pain!

I had to stop playing after dying too many times to Spark Mandril's miniboss.

I ask myself that question a lot when I revisit older games I haven't played in a long time. I also find myself being flustered by the difficulty when I know as a kid I skated through all of these games with no problem. Seems getting older means older games get harder.

I'm with ya there TC. Every few years I replay X asking myself "why after all this time have I never once beat Sigma, he can't be that hard can he?" And then I'm always reminded "oh, right, it's the motherfucking walljumping."

I could have sworn I rebound my dash key in the Mega Man X collection for PS2 but I may be wrong. I remember hating having to wall jump with that button combination even as a teenager.

In the Steam version, I can't get the game to recognise the trigger buttons.

It is the opposite for me, maybe because I just use the default controls and then I realized that trigger buttons are a godsend so you don't have to use the thumb for everything.

Bumpers are already bound to cycling boss weapons.

But I didn't try rebinding them, I'll try later.

I'm using double tap to dash right now because I can't charge and dash at the same time with my thumb and it's a PITA.

Well the SNES controller just kinda works for Mega Man X. I found the 360 DPad to be atrocious and the face buttons have a bit of "stick" to them so mashing wallkicks, dash jumps, and jump n'shooting is pretty hard on that controller.

Yeah replace Y with one of the bumpers to cycle. It's what I've always done. Then make one of them a dash and you're golden

Yeah when Storm Eagle's been defeated, Spark Mandrill's stage loses power and as a result the miniboss can't it's lightning bolts. And it goes down easily using Storm Tornado.

I bought the X games a while ago and tried playing them for the first time but I simply cannot play any game with double tap to dash. That has got to be the most idiotic control choice there is. Was it that way on the old console versions?

I know. The problem is that there's no way to turn off double tap to dash, so there are far too many instances of dashing when I don't want to, ie, right off a cliff.

Breezed through the regular levels, it was fun. Then got to a part with a bunch f enemies and needing dash wall jumping and, well, I haven't gotten back to it. I guess I could try playing with the button inputs but haven't gotten back to it to try.

Yup, this is what killed my motivation for good a few weeks back. I figured the save system on the anniversary collection would be more forgiving than that, but nope, eat shit player, you're doing Vile and the spider boss and all that shit all over again.

Yeah... I no longer have the patience I once had as a kid. I'm moving on.

Anyway, I bought the legacy collection mainly for X2 & X3 since I didn't get a chance to play those last time.

If that makes one a weirdo, call me a weirdo as well, since I never use the shoulder buttons to change weapons either. I'm not memorizing the weapon order in the pause screen for that, nor am I memorizing each and every one of X's changed armor colors and matching them with each weapon.

But then, I never use non-Buster weapons anyway, outside of when they're required for upgrades or Buster-immune enemies and such. Even for boss weaknesses, I'd really only use them against particularly aggravating ones, it's mostly Buster-only runs for me nowadays.

I feel like there aren't enough games using mechanics like this, where the levels are connected and what you do in one impacts other ones. Like taking out a power plant means stuff in another level won't have enough juice to operate, or breaking a dam makes a different level more flooded.
