Economic doom spiral and riots.

Rising homeless population who will in turn be imprisoned or placed into camps to exploit for labor in the name of "rehabilitation". Politicians pointing the blame at either the other party or a marginalized group to move anger away from the broken system itself. Once civil unrest really begins to pop up, they will give us some sort of distraction. Stimulus checks or some temporary, half-baked welfare program or they will just do the historically successful plan of going to war.

Everything will be done to keep the capitalist plutocracy going, and they will try to keep up the disguise of liberal democracy. Fascism of some kind is inevitable if the system isn't dismantled, as climate change will force the issue in the face of mass migration and disrupted supply chains.

take a look at ice, a bunch of overpaid dumbass thugs with guns and body armor, and tell me that the model cant easily be used by billionares with private security. money wont stop a bullet, but it can pay for a whole lot of them.

They will all get all get a roof over their head in the sense that prisons do have roofs that keep the elements out. Being homeless will be a crime and prison slave labor will be "legal".

It went up to 10% during the great recession.

There's a reason Milton Friedman and other capitalists were pushing for guaranteed minimum incomes all the way back in the 70s under Nixon. Before they lost the plot, the capitalist intellectuals realized you need bread and circuses not just to prevent revolt, but to stimulate the economy.

it's happening right now in tech. Biotech especially has lower odds due to how stupidly anti science the Trump administration is.

that was 50 years ago. the ultra rich have all accepted that the human civilization is going to fail within a few decades. they know that climate change is going to fuck over the world and spark another world war, and they know that another world war will end up a nuclear war. so they've shifted to an 'i've got mine' mentality. maybe some of them have a messiah complex and figure their wealth will let them survive and restart civilization, but the majority just want the best ride they can get before we all crash out.

AI isnt replacing anyone in jobs actually worth a damn so thats not an issue. But outsourcing from other countrys either through remote work or H1B1 visas are a issue the government should be snuffing out yesterday.

Are layoffs just becoming more and more common in the US now? I feel like I've been seeing a lot of layoff topics on here and reddit recently. I myself was laid off in June and am still searching for work. I was told it was a budget issue though, not AI-related.
