I can accept no cash establishments, but what annoys me is places that take cash but not if the bills are above a certain amount. Over the weekend I walked into a Jersey Mikes, just to get a drink because I wanted to break a fifty so I could get the exact amount of a payment to my landlord without having to ask for change from him, and they told me they arent allowed to take fifties. As somebody who works at a register, cashless is the best thing to ever happen. No checking for counterfeits, nobody trying to argue over change, nobody trying to pay only in change, no breaking a $100 bill on a $3 purchase, no sweaty bills that came out of underwear, etc. thronedfire2 posted... Most transactions aren't a debt because no service has been rendered yet, therefore you're allowed to specify what form of payment you're willing to accept. But in the case of, for example, a restaurant that serves your food before bringing the check, they're not allowed to be cashless because the service has already been rendered, therefore it's a debt. I haven't carried cash in a long time, but it felt great to have extra pocket money when I worked as a barista and earned tips. I always keep $40 in cash on me for emergencies, but I haven't actually used it to buy anything in years. Most of the time I prefer to use cash, so if a place is cashless it just makes me less likely to go there. Honestly at this point I don't consider cash "real" money in terms of my personal finances. I'm never going to go to the bank to deposit, and 99% of shopping is either online or somewhere thats easier to just tap your card so it kinda just accumulates overtime. The only time I'll specifically use it is to tip somewhere or if I'm going to a sushi restauarant because the local ones here all give you a ~10% "discount" if you pay cash. --- a ...
