Like, isn't this supposed to be a good thing? The Democratic establishment coalescing around Mamdani rather than rejecting him?

Remember Obama reportedly wanted the crash primary after Biden dropped out. Which in retrospect would have been a better idea then Kamala Harris.

Obama is a genuine disappointment and has perhaps the worst political instincts of a national politician I've ever seen, but people seem to broadly like him and he is a memento of simpler times so you don't really lose anything by embracing him and his endorsement

The way I see it, the ballot-withholding voters are once again causing a commotion because they fear Obama will somehow "corrupt" Mamdani.

I think it's important for Mamdani to continue showing that he appreciates the endorsements, but he's going to do his own thing.

It's bc the Dem party is a coalition of dozens of different types of people, basically everyone who doesn't fit into the white conservative type the Republican party caters to. They have some loose unifying principals but not a ton in common outside of that

when i say the democrat party i include everyone left leaning, because there are only two parties that matter in the US and to claim otherwise is stupid. left leaning centrist, dino, progressive, they're all democrats to me; and the democrats refuse to work together in this country. the democrat party is constantly at war with itself and its members will throw each other under the bus regardless of how it effects election results.

compare them to the republican party, which isn't a monolithic unity of thought. all those fuckers hate each other but at the end of the day they hate democrats more and will consistently vote together to beat them.

Before certain users accuse me of once again attacking the left, I have to ask them this question: if they truly feared Mamdani would somehow be "corrupted" by Obama and the Democratic establishment, is it not proof they never had much faith in what integrity he had to begin with? A man of principles would at least see this as an opportunity to convince the establishment that running towards the left would help them win over the people.

Yes, but he wanted to throw Mark Kelly in, a corporate Democrat who loves Netanyahu. The dude's instincts have dulled.

They should be happy, now if Mamadani loses they can pull the he wasn't progressive enough card and the establishment kneecaped him card and feel better about their protest votes as Cuomo helps turn NY into a right wing cesspit even further than Adams could ever hope for.

If they think they can destroy the Democratic Party by supporting Mamdani, they will support Mamdani.

If they think they can destroy the Democratic Party by attacking Mamdani, they will attack Mamdani.

Expecting logical coherence or consistency from these people is pointless unless you realize that everything they do is based on whether they think it will hurt the Democratic Party and help Trump and Russia.

It's why we need to get away from assuming that only the Democratic Party is the default opposition to fascism, because everyone allows it to become dogpiled from ratfuckers and grifters. A populist non-aligned movement to defeat fascism and repair the country would be a lot more effective. Until we get that we'll get nowhere because way too many people are distracted by wanting to see Democrats get punished than defeat Trumpism.

I think of it this way -- these professional complainers have a much easier life if they are anti-Democrat, because they will end up on the winning side so often. Meanwhile, if they were anti-Republican, they would usually be on the losing side.

Obama reaching out is good news. Maybe the Democrat Establishment will finally start paying attention and rallying behind younger more energetic candidates. It's a start and we have a long fight ahead of us.

Mamdani has very little chance at losing. The republican's opposition is an old gematric; Cucomo is being backed by Trump now so he's dead to the NYC voter. All signs are pointing this to be a massive victory.

People like that seem to be in denial of the reality that power tends to gather around the corrupt.

Right now Trump, Putin, Netanyahu, Musk, that ilk has the power. Naturally their opposite has little power. He acts like this is some surprise.

If the left were to gain power it would have to be by different means than how the above did it, otherwise the values of lefitsm would be compromised by necessity. In order to gain power without selling out they need grassroots support from common people en masse.
