They kept hinting at him so much through the base game and the other DLCs where you'd be following him and he'd be following you, but all it turned out to be was some preachy author insert who wouldn't stfu. Oh nooooo, I destroyed a few Marked Men and Tunnelers :( Also it's wild that he castigated me for delivering the Platinum Chip when I'm doing an NCR run this time. I killed House and destroyed the Protectron army underneath the Legion fort, that Platinum Chip didn't hurt anyone but me and Benny. --- Time is a funny thing, you know? It's a really strange DLC because it completely shits all over the roleplaying aspect of the game and forces a backstory on a character that was supposed to be a blank slate. They were doing an effective job of crippling the NCR with a bunch of small fires all over the Mojave. But the groundwork for the 2nd battle of Hover Dam and all the Leigon's work to destablize the reigon was already in effect. Ceaser wasn't even leading these efforts. Of course the kick in the pants was that they couldn't fully commit to giving the Courier a backstory with Ulysses because they didn't want to ruin the player's RP aspects, so we ended up with this wishy-washy "you delivered a package once that inadvertently destroyed a community and your carelessness became this guy's sole misplaced motivation to destroy everything and you don't remember any of this because bullet to the head or something." Now with the benefit of 14 years' hindsight, I think I can say that LR's story would've been greatly improved if Ulysses had simply zeroed in on your faction choice as motivation to be your nemesis; the mechanic / most of the dialogue was already there, just needed fleshed out a bit. It wouldn't have been stellar, but it also wouldn't have left a bad taste in the player's mouth the way the vague halfhearted forced backstory did. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. <cite>masterpug53 posted [p:986142631] in Well I jus...
