I still remember the NES releasing and how much of a mind fuck it was. People laugh now but it was like alien tech coming from Atari. The increase in quality was something I couldnt quite grasp was actually real. I know gamefaqs skews older but typically the majority here are still younger by a decent margin and often started with SNES. I will always have deep nostalgia for the NES era. Yeah it had a lot of bad games but it had some absolute amazing all time favorites and started multiple iconic franchises that are still going strong to today. It pulled gaming out of the ashes in North America after the crash of 83 and it helped usher in gaming being a legitimate hobby where retailers could actually dedicate shelf space for it and treat it more than just a toy for kids. It helped usher in a wider range of people into gaming rather than just the nerds and it was the first time gaming felt quality enough where I felt like I didnt want to go to the arcade and I was ok just gaming at home. I will forever have super fond memories of this era and some great specific experiences with multiple titles that left a strong impression on me. I still hear so many sounds from that era in my head and think the music was better than many modern OSTs. That distinct chip tune music. Ahhh the memories. The peak NES era from like 87 to 89 were around my junior high years. I still played it in 1990 in high school but was soon transitioning to SNES and Genesis. But those late 80s junior high days were peak. Fucking loved that system. --- PSN ID: sled_dogs76 60" Pioneer Kuro Elite PRO151FD, Yamaha RX-V3900 A/V Receiver, Oppo DV983-H player.
