I still can't believe they felt this decision was not only necessary but for the good of gamefaqs as a whole.

banning politics outside CE is just putting a fragile lid on it and not expect it to burst down the line. already a lot of things are breaking into our life and need to be discussed like the cost of consoles and games which politics is impacting it directly and ignoring it is what got us into this mess to begin with
so many you see having a shocked pikachu moment when they see tariffs effect them and it's one of the prime reason of prices going up

It would have made so much more sense if they had just made 261 private and left CE as-is. Let the political talk starve itself on its own containment board, rather than shutting it down and shifting the containment to a completely unrelated place.

If Fandom's stupid rule is "no boards specifically created for politics", just change the fucking name of the board and remove the off-topic rule on that board so the people there can talk about other things as well.

In regards to tariffs, I'm going to quote myself here:

Video games sometimes deal with human rights, civil rights, economic policy, freedom of speech, etc. The economic decisions of the companies making video games are influenced by and influence political issues, to a degree. Discussions of these topics are generally allowed, especially when and where it is topical/relevant. To some degree, these discussions will naturally come with criticism of companies, policies, countries, and leaders - again, that is allowed, to an extent, particularly when it is topical/relevant, generally factual, and especially non-toxic - so long as it does not break any other rule and is non-disruptive.

While it is nice in principal they allow it here, all posting about it here does is a constant reminder of how doomed we are, it constantly getting worse, as we helplessly rant.

261 was great. Good source of obscure news and people didn't bow down to the right wing posters even when they where mods.

That said, 261 did have its uses and could have been improved, e.g., with a karma requirement and kill on sight for the usual right wing TOS violations.
