What are people talking about when they complain about Marvel dialogue? Serious question; I have no idea.

real quippy shit, like the stuff you imagine saying to people in your head when you play back conversations or something

designed to sound "cool" but nothing anyone would actually say in real conversations

in this case, it's just a nonstop barrage of "wow did i just do that or did i just do that?" type shit

Ragnarok was a downgrade in every way except gameplay.

I bought the game day 1 and played maybe 3 hours

so boring

The game's great but that tone shift was stupid and it only gets worse.

Reminded me of Banner Saga 3, same kind of tone shift.

The gameplay had me hooked but yeah I didn't really care for the story and dialogue like the 2018 game

The Marvel dialogue was cringe and a lot of the story feels like it went over my head near the end. Or felt like it was missing context. :/ I would have like a third game.

Still one of my favourite PS5 games though.

Idk why they make a big deal of Kratos being the only one who could kills gods? It feels like Thor/Odin had multiple opportunities to kill god characters and just like, chose not to. Idk if I missed something.

since i've had the gist of the story spoiled for me, i can say that it would probably have been a lot better as three games.

first game, you fight baldur as the final boss, second game has you beating thor, third game is odin

instead they cram it all into the second game like raimis spider-man 3 trying to shove in three movies worth of movie into one movie

There's a giant optional section near the end of the game where they basically lore dump a bunch of character backstory for somebody who barely existed in the game. It really feels like it was meant to be expanded on in a full entry.

also the game is bugged because the boy keeps saying there's a gap in the fence over there, but we have been past that part for a while now. he keeps cutting into other dialogue to say it which cancels what's being said

The 2018 one also had terrible dialogue and macguffin plot. I feel like I played a completely different game than all these people who loved it

2018s dialogue was fine, it fit the theme and atmosphere

The entire plot is let's take object a (ashes) to place b (mountain). Plot twists involve a giant magic barrier preventing you from taking a to b so you do thing c to remove the barrier oh ok now we can proceed with this.

The kid finds out he's a god and immediately turns into a megalomaniac without any foreshadowing, nuance, development, etc. and then just as quickly switches back when his daddy comes to save him. There's no depth to the characters, no progression. The characters aren't people, they're templates that bend to the whims of the story beats.

the kid turning dark was foreshadowed literally as soon as you meet Freya and she explicitly told kratos that it would happen if he doesn't tell the kid the truth

then mimir also said it would happen

then freya said again it would happen

and again for a third time

and then it eventually happened

Sony games in general don't really interest me anymore. Ragnarok, Tsushima and the Spider Man games have been on my to-play list for years.

Spider-Man is fantastic

2 is...more of the same, which isn't bad, but it genuinely does nothing different. it feels like a major expansion to the first game, moreso than miles morales did

i did platinum 2 and not 1, so clearly there was something there that drove me more, but i honestly am unable to quantify it

the dad and boy are back together, and now the story just stopped existing. they both have what they want at this point and are at a loss for what to do next. understandable, how does this completely unnecessary trek change any of that? they're going just to go, there's no reason for us to actually be here. kratos was just "i'm gonna go visit freya for a bit wanna come with" and that's it, that's why we are here.
