Anything short of sending soldiers to defend & push the frontlines is eventually going to mean more resources no country could afford to do indefinitely. Even the US is going to give up the parts of the Ukraine for stopping this war. So its safe to say the EU will do the same and carve up the Ukraine to appease the Russian war machine. Itll buy the Ukraine & EU a few years until Russia starts advancing into more land and its resources. Russia wants Ukraine in its entirety maybe other ussr countries, like 15 total. Ukraine is the first important piece. EU needs to go full war mode boots to ground if they want to keep the sovereignty of the Ukraine. Tomorrow someone will tell him Ukraine can't win and he'll repeat that instead. He has no actual position on Ukraine and since he's been appointed de facto Dictator of the United States that means the United States has no position either. Transnistria is an incredibnly narrow bit of landlocked terrtitory between Moldova and Ukraine, with a thousand or so soldiers with decrepit gear. Those soldiers can do some bad stuff if they enter Moldova, whose army is even smaller and with even worse gear, and become a single day loss statistic if they enter Ukraine. Moldova would likely invite Ukraine and Romania to take care of the Trasnistrian troops if they crossed into Moldova. Russia cannot help because their planes will be shot down if they try to fly across Ukraine, and taking a detour through Romania is basically playing with the fire that's named Article 5.
