It's a lot for summer. That sounds like a winter bill. In spring/summer my electric bill for my house is like $120 each month. In winter it can get up to $250-$300 because my house is better at AC than the Heater. Maybe electric is cheaper in my state? not sure. Yeah I was gonna say it's a factor of the location and the house itself. I think mine was roughly $170 last month for WI. Hot summer and it's a 2 story house. I'm not even blasting it either, just trying to keep it around 78. I think it is a lot. My utility does what is called total 12 and its an average price you pay and every 3 months they look at how much you are using/paying and make it a number that reflects a price you will pay all 12 months. You overpay in the summer and the extra money is kept in an escrow so that in the winter when your bill is higher because gas is more expensive than electricity you pay lower. So I had a new high efficiency furnace and AC put in at the fall of 2021. My utility bill for electric and gas combined has been $122 a month and never changes. I live in the Midwest United States and it gets hot and very humid. I have a good size 5 bedroom 2,600 square foot house and I run the AC in the high 60s and it runs almost nonstop on days over 90 degrees which is a lot. My bill is always $122. In reality my bill is actually cheaper than that but gas in the winter makes it in the $200 to $300 range so I overpay all summer to make up for it but it comes out to $122 a month. Living where I am in the Midwest is pretty cheap. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/7/70c37238.jpg --- PSN ID: sled_dogs76 60" Pioneer Kuro Elite PRO151FD, Yamaha RX-V3900 A/V Receiver, Oppo DV983-H player. You could take some work off your central AC by getting a window unit for the bedroom. That's what I do and it's helped my bills significantly. I like sleeping in cold, so I drop the window unit to low 70s when I go to bed, mid-high 70s during the day. Central unit is usually between 73-78F. It's gotten a little warm at times but it's usually comfortable at all times in my place. Which is really nice for south Texas when it's not dropping below 90 outside overnight. ... This is a good plan too if you don't have anything drastic change. I used to do customer service for an electric company and they called it budget billing. They average out the last year and you pay that monthly. At the end of the 12 months, if you paid less than actual usage, you have an extra bill. If you paid more, you get a credit. I've seen someone have an issue at their place causing a massive increase in consumption but they didn't realize until months later and they were pissed at that bill when the 12 months was over. ... My bill this month was 68.53. That includes running an air conditioner pretty much 24/7 when I'm at home, and on a smart mode (that doesn't work) when I'm at work. If it's above 77 out I have the AC on, if it's sleeping time and it's not below 70, I have the AC on. Yeah ours makes adjustments if needed every 3 months and I get statements about my usage, average temp and usage compared to last year, and usage compared to other similar houses. I like the system they use. Ive been in this house 21 years and the highest bill I have ever had from them was $168 when we had a winter where like the whole month was well below 0. It temporarily spiked my bill from the $150 range to the $168. On my old furnace and old undersized AC unit that couldnt even cool my house into the 60s on warm days and would run 20 hours a day my bills were in the $140 range.
