X I loved at the time it launched, I've softened in years since but it's up there. I'll put it with VIII on the second shelf. XII is good. I've never had the urge to replay it though. It's good but it's been 18 years since I played it and I've never given it much thought since. XIII. This killed final fantasy for. I was hyped for it. Next gen Final Fantasy! I really hated this. And then they sequels for this one! This is the most disappointed I've been in a game. Never played XIV, (being an MMO and disaster of a launch didn't help) or XV either. Then they announced VII Remake. I was hyped, then I heard the stuff they were planning for Remake, I was less than happy. But then the pandemic hit, I bought it... Intended to crap all over like a cretin. It reminded me what it was like to be a FAN of something again. It's also made me want to try XV and I did want to play XVI but didn't have a PS5 at the time. It had its gameplay issues, but I enjoyed the characters, the story, and the soundtrack immensely. Then ffxi came and it's supposed to be pretty good too, but it's mmo so I didn't play. FF12 I skipped again and I didn't have much interest anymore. But I respect that tons of people love them. As Sakauchi was listed as executive producer for X, I don't believe he was really invovled. It's really the first departure from the classic team. But it feels like it carries the spirit and intent, though I have never been a fan. XII was okayish, but gets really boring with the auto battle gambits, not using them makes the game painfully slow as it is designed around them. So it's kind of a wash. Disliked XIII and it's ilk. I think people are within their right to complain about how FFXVI's gameplay is a departure from most previous mainline Final Fantasy titles, but I think it would be crazy to argue that FFXVI isn't still a good game overall. creativerealms posted...
