Once you get player phase deleters like any of the 3 Swift Strikers or any strong Snipers with Hunter's Volley, they can pull off what Vengeance Bernie can without set up and can often inflict more damage. Seriously though, at least 3 Houses has the classes having base stats which allows you to easily catch characters up somewhat. I had to drop Anna from one of my more recent Engage runs because she got 1 magic level from her 5 levels of axe fighter, then went from level 2 to level 8 as a sage without getting a single magic level up. Probably could have saved her by using magic stat boosters, but since during that run I wanted to try out a magic based Alear (mage knight), those stat boosters were going to him instead. Might not even have any wyvern lords this run through. I really prefer having a distribution of different classes. I just think it's more fun. This was the guide I used the most when I played the game actually, besides the script for the game. It is still pretty complicated though but it's about as hard as IVs/EVs in Pokemon once you get the hang of it. The DLC character endings even allude to an invasion of Shambhala and there is datamined data in the game that has Edelgard deployed as a unit at Shambhala, so it clearly was meant to happen. Plus having Edelgard learn of what really went down between Rhea and Nemesis would be a good chance for personal growth...hence why the route should have got you facing Nemesis (the final bosses would benefit from being shuffled around, +Claude really ought to have more involved in Almyra in his route). As it is thought, it is great being able to use Edelgard to her fullest. She is basically Byleth 2.0 with better proficiencies with the absurdly broken Raging Storm (Galeforce 2.0), which she can spam all through Part 2 if you collect the material you need to repair it properly (hint: fight the worm beasts). And yeah, being the quickest route, some people actually like it to avoid burnout + it is the game's most unique route with the most unique maps. The other three routes (particularly VW+SS) feel very samey otherwise. There is also an appeal of getting to reunite the world by force, which isn't something the FE series has really offered us before in this context (there isn't an equivalent to say the Lopyr Empire to knock over). Finally, as my first route of Three Houses, I enjoyed the experience. Been trying to get her in brigand, but her axe bane has been annoying You get Lances to C+ first and make her an Archer when lvl 10 comes up, she should hit D+ no problem just by fighting, then you start working on getting her axe rank up while she maxes Archer for Hit+20. --- Time is a funny thing, you know? Persecution Complex + Vengeance not only kills functionally anything, especially when using special effective weaponry, it also goes online incredibly early. So she's likely your first player phase nuke and will continue to be one for basically the entire game. There are basically no units who can one round as well as Bernie in Maddening early game. It makes her incredible. But yeah, Bernie Bear is gonna really appreciate the advanced class glow up.
