He wouldn't make all these EOs in the name "fighting America hate" if he didn't actually care about America. He clearly loves the country in some twisted way, I'm just curious what he loves about it since many of the things that make America "America" seem to contradict a lot of his own personal values (or lack thereof). I'm also talking about his "America First" supporters who also don't seem to respect what America stands for.

Of course, the man who thought 9/11 was the occasion to cheer that his building became the largest in New York. That is a man who loves anything other than himself.

Perhaps "love" is the wrong word, Trump clearly doesn't "love" anyone or anything other than himself. I just think if he legitimately just used patriotism to get himself in, he wouldn't feel the need to continue to pay lip-service to fake patriotism now that he is in, but he keeps doing it. He also has a warped view of American history he's fascinated with that he wants to push on the rest of us. Maybe I've figured it out, America just means "power" to him and nothing else so he wants America to always be powerful because then it means he's powerful and I dunno where I'm going with this now, I don't know why I keep trying to logic this illogical man. >_>

Because he's a Republican and they're the party of toxic nationalism. He wants people to adore him and acting like he's a super patriot is the easiest way to get Republicans to fawn over him despite his constant shitting on the founding principles of the country.

I wonder how much of this is a response to the fact that we arent allowed to burn the Israeli flag. People were like -- we can burn the American flag but not the israeli one? And Trump was like -- ya know what, you're right. Now you can't burn the American one either.

People assumed you cant because 1. somehow people thought idiotically that a single judges ruling applies to the entire country. 2, People were lying about what the decision actually said, it was clarified in a topic that has probably purged, but the ruling was something like that person had suffered enough for a restraining order or something like that, not that burning the flag was illegal.

Yes. This wasn't "guy burnt an Israeli flag and was arrested for it," there was a lot to this case aside from that.

One is still fully entitled, in almost every circumstance, to burn any flag they desire as a form of political speech.

Nobody here actually read the order or what Trump said. They know flag burning is legal, they want the DOJ to "Get creative" with other things to charge them with based on the conduct.

I mean...we've already seen attempts to punish people for being anti-Israel, particularly those here on visas. I would certainly not recommend anyone here on a visa or seeking citizenship to burn an Israeli flag right now, but an American citizen broadly still has that right.
