I would think that conducting covert spy operations to undermine the sovereignty of an allied country and threatening another allied country with whom you have extensive defense cooperation agreements with would be a bigger undermining of foreign policy.

Maybe unfounded and foolish punitive economic measures are also undermining foreign policy to begin with?

Yes, this is the dangerous diplomatic embarrassment. Not the on-again, off-again tariffs, insisting foreign countries rid themselves of "DEI", referring to Canada as the "51st state', calling Angela Merkel, who holds a PhD in quantum chemistry, "stupid", trying to annex Greenland and Panama, insisting Mexico pay for the border wall, denigrating our EU and Canadian allies, belittling Zelenskyy, carrying water for Vladimir Putin, undermining NATO, saluting North Korean generals, enabling genocide in Gaza, sanctioning the ICC, surrendering Afghanistan to the Taliban, assassinating an Iranian general to compensate for a tiny, mushroom penis, attacking Brasil's courts for having the decency to prosecute their leaders for coups, or the unadulterated xenophobia.
