Parties or policies.

Particularly Far to Extremist ones.

I just saw someone who I worked with for years go on a massive tirade on social media* showing support for Reform Party, spousing misinformee bullshit regarding Flags, immigration etc.

She's been in relationships with both men and women, she has a Polish name (surname) so a previous generation must have travelled to the UK prior. Her husband is highly neurodivergent and that's also a group of people that don't get fair treatment.

How can you be this close to 3 groups like this and show support for a party/cause that uses them as scapegoats.

*=(I really need to delete all my social media but one systemic problem at a time)

They're delusional and have fallen for propaganda. They think they'll be considered "the good ones" when there are never any "good ones". Conservatives will use these people and get rid of them when they're done with them.

This. Also a lot of those groups come from a very conservative society themselves, so they think they belong with them.

Well they probably feel the system failed them groups. Their cries for justice is a call for balance in the system. Their concerns worries cries fall on deaf ears of those other groups established & firm in their perceived network. Oh that party is for wild liberals. This party for outdated conservatives. That other party is too radical.

People want the country to reflect their values but when their representatives get diluted in the beauracracy to the point where that rep no longer champions their needs and wants.

Only way to get better in their view is through high risk, high reward. So they lend their support. Empower those who make promises of better tomorrows for their groups. however, they should be careful who they empower to lead.

I feel its a power grab of certain groups that organize these things. As long as theres something to fight for, there will be an aggressive wing of representatives who champion that kind of movement to change.

If you are rationalizing behavior and trying to figure out what the best voting choice would be based on factual information rather than how you feel or what your heard on social media or from friends/family you are putting way more effort into your voting decision than the average voter does.

Theres isnt just one reason, but I can easily point out one of those reasons.

There is a massive misconception on the left that the average American voter is informed. That just because, you (not literally you, speaking in general) posted about something right wingers did, that it somehow got to the average voter, nevermind that average voter believing you IF it got to them.

Which is where the left stops short at in their messaging issue including among voters. Especially when you get into the purity faction who is quick to label you an extreme bigot if you dont 100% align with them. Because it doesnt help when we do have average uninformed voters who might agree mostly with the left on an issue, but not 100%... and you get the purity wing who labels them an extreme bigot or something crazy. That kind of thing can be weaponized easier against the left, as an uninformed average who leans in your favor is now pushed away because they see you as some kind of irrational radical who calls anyone a bigot who hates <insert group> on the flawed logic that real bigots exist.... so the person who doesnt 100% agree with you is the same.

Love it or hate it, its easier for the right to manipulate that kind of polarizing logic in their favor when the average voter already isnt as informed as the left seems to think.

Not all of them are bigots, many are legit uninformed average voters.

A lot of minority groups are actually kinda conservative and honestly agree with a lot of what's being said. They just ignore the fact that being a Token Good One (tm) only works until those even lower on the ladder have been removed. Tokens get spent.

For a more charitable interpretation, most people can see that the status quo really isn't working and want change, even ...reforms. The Tories bear a large part of the responsibility for the state of the country and Labour is quite frankly ignoring everything and sleepwalking into a Reform victory. The mistake that Reform voters are making is ignoring that the people behind Reform are the same people behind the Tories, Brexit and a shit ton of the problems facing the country.

The electorate was, is, and always will be, full of low information voters. Unless the plan is to disenfranchise people, these folks have the same concerns, issues, and voting power as anybody else. Calling them idiots and not addressing their fears certainly isn't going to prevent people from joining extremist parties.

It's kind of been stated already, but yeah, it's like 10% really really rich ones who want the tax cuts and god-king status that the GOP offers the ultra rich, and 90% just them hating others more than they like themselves.

I think that it's a mixture of irrational hatred and just blindly hating other groups, generally LGBTQ+ groups lately, and blindly following the group that wants to punish them, and of a sense of "Well I'll be fine because they don't hate me as much as they hate those people."

If there's one singular phenomenon that makes me feel the most cynical about the world, it's that one. Seeing groups join up with people who actively, openly hate them just because they hate LGBTQ+ people that much just feels awful.
