Yeah I know they licensed a bunch of their songs but so did a LOT of (inferior) sitcoms from the 90s/2000s and they're still able to air with the original music.

I mean, I'll happily take a Drew Carey Show that has to change or cut musical scenes over no Drew Carey Show at all, but what makes this one in particular so cursed?

It's definitely not the only one. They had to completely re-score Queer as Folk for streaming for the same reason.

Wonder Years had a different theme when it was first on streaming, though they paid up eventually and got the theme back. When they released the DVDs they got something like 90% of the original music, which was a huge feat with how much pop music they had in the show.

Dawson's Creek also had to use a different theme song for streaming which was really disappointing cus I loved the original.

Also my wife and I started 90210 a few years back because I had never seen it before. We got a few seasons in and everything was fine. But then they apparently started inviting big bands and using popular songs in every episode so like only a handful of episodes from the later seasons was actually available :/

WKRP is older but really has this issue. Muppet Babies isnt a sitcom but streaming or any release would be nigh impossible.
