The SMB series has a long-lasting legacy. Which one is your favorite?

I predict SMB3 will get the popular vote, but I personally love SMB2 so much. Super underrated and introduced a lot of staple Mario characters and elements, like Birdo, Shy Guy, Peach's floating ability, etc.

However, I thoroughly enjoyed Wonder, which might be my new favorite. Such a great game with fresh, innovative gameplay. I'll have to mull it over.

Meanwhile, I couldn't care less about the NSMB line. They're all the same generic platformers.

Today I learned Mario Wonder has Bros. in the title. Anyway, I choose NSMB Wii for the co-op shenanigans. Throwing your friends into lava is a good time.

Super Mario World is called Super Mario Bros 4 in Japan. Probably should have included it.

I will always be partial and biased towards the NES original trilogy in the United States. I'm biased towards my nostalgia for that time period of the NES period just hitting at the perfect age for me in late elementary and into junior high in the mid to late 80's.

So I think the best game is SMB3 but my favorite is SMB2 (North American). I just love that you can play as different characters and preferred playing as Luigi. I just liked the overall design, the idea behind the dark and light elements with the potions and the doors. The music was awesome and just overall I flat out loved that game.

I still remember completing that game at a friends house. I remember the time frame in 1988, his room, everything very vividly and I remember seeing that blue screen of Mario sleeping at night and dreaming and how cool I thought it was.

Unpopular opinion: NSMBU. I had so much fun playing that game.

SMB3 is a classic though of course.

2D games: World
"New" games: Wii (but that's the only one I played, lol)
3D games: Galaxy 2

Mario 3 is the obvious runaway winner from these poll options given the long running debate between 3 and World for best Mario game.

Personally, Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels. It was the only 2D game in the mainline Super Mario Bros series that I actually felt challenged in and its additional worlds gave me more fun on the side, alongside the game making Luigi his own character in his move set.

I enjoyed the rest of the other games on that poll list, though.
