He was among the speakers at the summit, hosted by the American Renewal Project, which aims to inspire the American church to embrace its role in the public square," according to its website. The group has received criticism from some groups who say it is promoting Christian nationalism, arguing that the blurring of the lines between church and state is harmful to democracy. A group called Christians Against Christian Nationalism planned a protest on Monday outside the summit. But Whatley and the American Renewal Project say more people of strong faith are needed in public office. Because at the end of the day, somebody has an idea of exactly which denomination they're trying to promote without spelling it out. Which reading of the ten commandments or the lord's prayer? It will be 1 specific denomination. And for Catholics in particular, I can guarantee Catholicism won't be what is chosen.
