I really don't get how someone can dislike a guy because all he does is complain for an entire season and then put Rachel of all people first. Maybe she wasn't complaining here like on TAR, but you could swap Vince for Rachel in everything you ever said about Vince and that's my exact feelings on TAR Rachel. Ashley was an early favorite then they gave her the worst edit imaginable lol, then she got overshadowed by others. Dunno she isn't a great winner imo but Vinny had very clearly awful jury management. Morgan would have wiped the floor with either of them imo. Sadly it was another Vanessa situation. First off, it's the STYLE of the complaining. You can complain about something and be fun to watch if you're charismatic. Rachel Reilly is a very flamboyant personality, so whether she's happy or sad, she's going to be going 110%. Now, I can understand disliking that, but for me, it shows her passion for anything she does. Hell, her appearance on Amazing Race 31 with Elissa is my second-favorite team in the show's history. Now per darkx's point, I will acknowledge that her personality would not hit the same way coming from a man...but that's largely because there are just different societal factors at play; guys who make big, showy television tend to be more beloved by the audience as a whole (see: Keanu winning AFP with 65% of the vote), and their passion tends to be seen as a positive compared to the equivalent passion from a woman. None of the above applies to Vince though, because even though we saw him throw a temper tantrum at the end of the season, for the most part, he just wasn't even remotely entertaining. The thing about Rachel is that her dramatics and whining are outward-facing, so she winds up in conflict and causing drama, and bringing out the best in everyone else around her. With Vince, he had SO MUCH power and control--more than Rachel did this season despite fears of a returnee dominating--yet when anything got even remotely difficult, he turned into this sniveling weasel, whining and crying about how bad he is and how hard things are. That's not exciting and it's not entertaining. And this was THE main character of the season. Rachel and Keanu were BIG characters, but Vince was the main character ALL season. All roads led to Vince, and he wound up with the fourth-most Diary Rooms for a single season EVER...and he lacks ANY of the necessary charisma to make that work. --- Touch fuzzy. Get fuzzier. My issue with Rachel isnt that she has a big personality. Its that she is just so nasty and hypocritical about everything. Like shell use the tiniest reason on planet earth to start drama with someone (and like, really nasty petty high school type drama) and then play the victim when she gets called out on it. Its not even good television to me. Its unwatchable. I think you make a fair point about how men and women are perceived differently when they are big characters. I love Debbie Wanner for instance. I think shes great TV. But shes basically female Coach, yet doesnt get nearly the same love and recognition that he does. I didn't want to go there, but yeah, you're right that there's a huge chuck of the online fanbase that will give a woman a pass for anything but treat a man as a monster for breathing the wrong way. It's actually kind of shocking to hear BCT say they turned against Ava for making mean comments towards Rachel, but I guess attacking their idol is one of the few ways a woman can earn their ire. I was neutral toward her this season - sure, there was some hypocrisy as I've outlined, but she was also nowhere near as obnoxious as she was in prior appearances because she scaled back that obnoxious tryhard energy and actually played the best damn social game she ever has. I wouldn't have liked a guy who acted like Lauren anywhere near as much, for example). But when it comes to disliking people, my standards tend to be the same regardless. Vince did not come across as a tryhard, he just came across as a loser. His parents seem to be pretty well off, which is why he's been able to live on their dime. He's spineless because they never taught him to grow a pair, and it'd be delightful if they forced him to get his shit together. They won't be around forever and nobody's gonna want a degenerate. Kelsey dumping him should've been a wake-up call for them, too. I feel really sorry for him, honestly, at the same time I can't help but laugh at how pathetic he is. One thing I appreciate about Rachel is that she actively plays up the rigid BB confessional personality (e.g. with the BB fitness program). Shes self aware about hamming it up according to production prompts. Theres usually 2 types of players - people who keep it real like Keanu and people who are prompted so hard they come across as inauthentic. I just watched the Amazing Race premiere and.. *shrug* eh? I currently have no super strong feelings towards anybody one way or the other, not even people I loved or hated on BB. Kat has the potential to be either really fun or really annoying (the latter of which would be a shame because she was by far my favorite on BB21 and my overall favorite RTV character of that TV year). I can already see Taylor and Kyland's relationship going south. Tucker's brand of humor and chaos probably won't translate well to TAR, sorry to say. Enzo and his bro were kind of a hilarious trainwreck but I'm also pretty good with them being out first. I had her at the top when I ranked that year but her season had also just finished up and her season was otherwise pretty bad so my ranking of her was probably skewed a bit.
