As an EA exec, he probably had a hand in the recent spate of mtx laden Nintendo IP, like the mobile games, and anti-consumer practices from recent years. At least, I don't expect him to have provided any pushback against it with Iwata's successor being a pure business man instead of a true gamer.

Hope this new CEO isn't the same.

Bowser (lol) is still going to work in an executive capacity at NOA and their new CEO comes from a marketing background and their previous job title was "Executive Vice President of Revenue, Marketing and Consumer Experience"

I'd be cautiously optimistic at best.

Doug was much more low-key compared to Fils-Aime before him, but then again, that side of Nintendo died with Iwata, it seems.

So long, gay Bowser.

There is some reason to be more optimistic considering their new leader will be someone who has been with Nintendo for nearly 20 years, all the way back since the Wii days.

Doug Bowser can't be slept on from an executive standpoint. He had some major successes with the Switch in America, but you can't help but miss some of the "mascot" feel Reggie had. Hopefully, their next leader, with her experience with Nintendo, will be a more exciting president, especially since I feel Nintendo could use a fresh perspective on things.

I did, however, appreciate that in his introductory Direct, he had a pair of Mario and Luigi dolls tied up in the corner

He just didn't participate in the memes and wasn't onscreen like Reggie. That can really affect the public perception of not really influencing anything whether they did or not.

yeah i feel the "mascot" kinda leadership fits a company like nintendo

while nintendo is a greedy corpo like any other

they still need to feel warm and inviting which we lost after iwata died and reggie left the company

This. I cant recall anything about this guy. Only saw him when he showed up at the Game Awards to accept a trophy, and his speech would just be hey, thanks.
