Considering how he keeps trying to transform openAI into a for profit instead of like keeping most of the value in the non-profit, I dont think he really cares about helping all of humanity anymore(if he ever did)

These tech bros have this Messiah complex where they envision a life of leisure and arts for mankind while technology takes care of all the menial tasks that have bogged humans done for millenniums. This is fine in theory but none of them ever have a plan for the billions of workers who will be displaced and can no longer afford electricity because their data centers jacked up the bill 250%

Sam Altman and every other broligarch AI company CEO has a vested interest in portraying their LLM as a cure-all so people pay more money for it.

I do not believe any of the models currently in use have the potential to be "A higher intelligence", nor would any improvement thereof result in one (particularly the improvements the companies are doing, which are intended to drive engagement above all else)

Some of these guys actually have a belief that they are creating a literal god. They are really paranoid types of people and worry that if they dont and someone else does, it will become benevolent and will send them to a cyber hell or something dumb. Im not making this up. Behind the Bastards actually did a good episode on this.
