Honestly you could have pneumonia, my dad once had a temp of 95, and that was why.

Obviously it could be be something else, but I would suggest seeing a doctor if possible.

It could just be an inaccurate thermometer. If it's one of the forehead ones, I wouldn't trust it.

Hypothermia whatever the cause needs immediate medical attention. Some of its causes are life threatening, and time is a factor for many like pneumonia, and septicemia.

Any chance you could quickly test the thermometer on someone else just to make sure it's calibrated correctly?

I just tried again and got 97. My partner also did it and got 96 so maybe it's faulty? Although tbf she feels odd today as well.

Ok yeah it could be faulty, but if you feel bad it would be best to get checked out if possible just to be safe.
