Just recently got it for mobile. Fun rogue like as Im getting into the genre more and more recently.

I just feel like I'm getting my ass beat constantly and not really making too much progress. I unlocked the first three characters and I think I like The Silent most and then the robot. But I get owned in Act and rarely make it to the boss, where I get owned even more lol

From my personal experience, a lot of the game is about making sure your deck is able to handle every enemy, and minimizing the damage of your "worst" draws. Once you memorize enemy attack patterns, it gets much easier, even outside of character-specific synergies.

Roguelike in this case. Progress is completely reset. Roguelites have some kind of progression system between each run.

I gave this game a good try a few years back. Addictive, but felt I was getting nowhere. The RNG is too annoying

Ironclad is the most friendly for new players due to the healing relic, consensus puts Watcher as the best once you know what youre doing though.

Trial and error the best way to go through things for it though imo. Youll get the hang of it.

I'd recommend Across the Obelisk as well. It's sort of a mix between Slay the Spire and Darkest Dungeon, with slightly more complexity and lots of characters to unlock. Since playing it I haven't felt the urge to go back to Slay the Spire, as great as it is.

Might give it a go. I'm a sucker for variety of characters.

There's some core concepts in deck builders like it that are really important to do well but aren't intuitive to some players at the start

The biggest one is probably deck thinning

Okay I was finally able to beat act 2 with Silent. Originally I wanted to go Poison build but the draw power+discard was able to power me through. Unfortunately I picked the artifact that gave me 1 extra energy at the cost of being confused and it fucked me up quite a bit for act 3 lol

Remove your basic strikes and defends! Strikes first, and replace them with any other common Attacks that aren't obviously atrocious. You don't have to take every card reward, too.

My quick tips are as follows in no p[articulr order of importance

if you can remove cards from deck, prioritze it unless the other option has a synergistic combo that makes your deck go hard, if you are not sure removing a card is usually more worth.
It is always worth it to remove strikes and defends to only have the higher hitting or higher defending cards available.

For the same reason, refrain from always picking a card after you win a fight, you DO need to do it in Act 1 because your initial deck is bad, you want cards that hit harder than strike and defend better than defend, once you have 20-25 total cards start thinking about skipping.

Then it is just practice to mitigate as much damage as you can while killing as fast as you can which gives enemies less turns to hit you which means you go further.

Prioririze upgrading and not resting so you learn how to fight and not rely on resting to heal because you will in the long run not scale and get screwed by the strionger enemies, once you geta costumed to your only single HP bar, then you can start thinking about resting every once in a while.

Prioritize cheap cards that do a lot of damage, expensive flashy cards that do nuke damage usually need a build to get them going but if you pick the highest number available that does not cost more than 1 or 2 gets the job done as well and does not cripple you when you need to spend mana on defends and such.

EDIT: Also, always go for the roads with the most elites, you scale better which makes everything else easier, but it is also harder since elites are fucking nuts, but you will in the long run learn how to deal with them by trial and error and you wil end up with ridiculous builds by going for all the elite artifacts.

If you watch Balorlord on YouTube you'll go from beginner to intermediate player in like a day or two.

I'm always learning and I watched him last night abusing a fun infinite combo with Ironclad. He was able to go infinite on turn one most of the time and took out the Sword and Shield act 4 elite this way. Then on the Heart fight he used the infinite combo to play an upgraded Flex (gain 4 strength for one turn) over and over 50 times to get 200 strength, then drank an ancient potion (one charge of artifact) to KEEP the strength buff for the whole fight.
