Nah, gambling won't die out beyond legislation making it so. And there is a lot of incentives in getting kids hooked on gambling under capitalism.

Hoyo could easily make a better Pokmon game than Game Freak.

In fact, they're already working on one. It's called Honkai: Nexus Anima.

This is why I stick to the AFK games. They have some of the most generous pulls in the genre. It's like playing a coin slot game where you're guaranteed a win no matter what rather than a slot machine where you can go bust.

My hot take is that there's very little inherently wrong with gacha, it's just another problem of capitalism. People feel so burnt out in a world that constantly removes any sense of basic humanity or enjoyment of anything that they turn to things like gambling to feel anything.

It's just another monetization method that has the capacity to be fair or not. Hoyo is generally pretty okay about this, at least in Genshin, I assume the others are similar: you can either spend nothing and have access to ~70% of characters on average, spend $6 a month for every character if you want, or you spend exorbitant amounts of money either because you have a lot of disposable income or you're trying to fill the aforementioned void.

A shame. She's a cutie and of course I pulled her
