What the actual fuck. Apparently one of the victims was expelled after getting into a physical confrontation with the guy, but has since been let back in school.

It scares me that we have to worry about this shit now. Kids should not have access to AI. In fact, most people should not have access to AI

Not surprised. When I think back to the mindset of my classmates, the only thing stopping them/us from doing the same was a lack of available technology. The future is gonna be dark for this shit.

glad to see the girl got her expulsion reversed, really disgusting to see it happened in the first place. girl finds out a student is manufacturing and passing around dirty photos of he and reports it, if the school doesn't do a damn thing then what is she supposed to do? grin and accept it?

So growing up we lived next door to this really trashy family. Im talking trashy. The youngest son who is probably 5 years or so younger than me is, was, and always will be a piece of human garbage.

So one day this punk decided to spread around nudes of some girl who rejected him or something at his school. School doesnt do shit of course. So the girls dad shows up at their house ready to beat this kid and his dads ass. My neighbor (the dad) comes out with a gun and threatens to kill him if he doesnt leave while the shitstain kid hides behind him laughing the whole time.

I dont know what happened from there, but yeah. People fucking suck

10 charges for the kid so far with more possibly coming.

They might make an example out of this little fucker.

its a middle school kid, so what, 11/12/13 year old? they're not going to toss them in prison for a decade. it'll likely end up as some form of fine the parents need to pay and maybe some time in juvie.

honestly i'd argue that the parents need to be held accountable for this too. failure to parent in an acceptable manner, contributing to the delinquency of a minor seems like an obvious charge.

Pretty sure there have been several incidents in the past with kids photoshopping indecent pictures of their classmates. How were those dealth with?

There are a lot of dimensions to this.

The boy is 13. People do stupid shit at 13. He needs to be punished but I can't imagine ruining his whole life over doing something that probably took like ten minutes because of AI tools.

Also this shit just freaks me out though that people can just generate AI images like this. Frankly I'm now more concerned at the prospect of grown adults doing this kind of shit

Again? I swear this is like the 3rd or 4th incident of this happening. I would think that the first arrest for using AI like this would serve as a cautionary tale, but I guess not. Definitely not just a "boys will be boys"

serious punishments dont really teach others not to do bad shit, its why the death penalty has never lowered the murder rate after all. what's needed is better parenting.

Nope, and we plan to monitor and regulate that shit. But kids are smarter than we give them credit for and theyll always find a way.

When I was a kid I wasnt allowed to have any M rated games. Know how I got around it? I would simply buy Microsoft points cards and download M rated games directly from the Xbox store. I would just play them on low volume and if a parent walked by I would flip the channel. I played through the entirety of GTA4 that way lol

Smart phones as we know them, weren't a thing until after I was already an adult. But I did have uncontrolled access to the computer. It was in the living room, but I was a latchkey kid (got home before my mom did), so I definitely went on sites I wasn't supposed to while she wasn't home. My kid does not have that luxury, but I'm sure he'll have friends that don't have restrictions on their access.

And once smartphones came out and became the norm it just got that much easier to slip shit by our parents. I think I watched the entirety of Saving Private Ryan in 10 minute parts on YouTube on my iPod touch lmao

sure kids are smart, but the solution to that is to sit them down and talk to them about why you have the rules you do. for example, why making porn of your classmates is a bad idea.

there's a pretty big difference between you and your parents, you fully understand the technology that you're worried about.

Schools in America have been pulling knee-jerk shit for decades.

I'm from the "Just Say No/Zero Tolerance" 80s/90s generation, and there was a girl in my middle school who nearly got suspended because she brought Midol. Because it was a drug, you see.

Luckily her dad was a lawyer and made it VERY clear he would sue the shit out of the school district if they did it, so they backed down. And hastily wrote in an exemption in for OTC meds.

yeah i remember some of that. my favorite rule was the zero tolerance fight rule, i can think of at least one instance where a kid got functionally expelled because he dared to try to fight back when 3 guys jumped him.

shit didn't even work though. everyone learned to take their fights where the school couldn't monitor them, and its not like zero tolerance for drugs kept people from smoking literal crack in the bathrooms...

I'm less concerned about the kid being a pos and more wondering about what they're doing about whatever AI was used to make child pornography
