Replayed both GTA 4 & 5 recently. What's next?

I'm currently replaying GTA 4 for the first time in years.

I've been wanting to replay it for a while now but couldn't because the disc drive on my PS3 was busted and there was no other way for me to play it. But I got a new PS3 back in October.

I'm playing vice city for the 2nd time (1st time only played about 6 hours and then quit, back in 2012). It's dated as hell. I still like GTA3 better so far.

San Andreas. Saints Row 2, 3, and 4.

I still need to play San Andreas and Saints Row 2. Those are on my short list of games to play next.

I second Saints Row 3 and 4. Both were really fun.

Play the definitive edition trilogy in order

Also play the Mafia games and The Getaway I'd you can find it somewhere

Hot take? Play games that are very different from something youre really looking forward to in order to maximize your potential enjoyment of the new stuff without anything feeling routine.

I felt like I could play San Andreas forever, but then I realized I was skewing it into a daydream of existing as an adult in those very places in that era.

I was just a toddler at that time, and my parents couldn't afford showing me everything happening at that time. Wish I could see what people were really like in San Francisco at that time, and much differently relationships would go, and what choices and indulgences I would make with full hindsight clarity.

So it stopped being about the game. That CJ that had a modest Jester that he drove everywhere and tried to keep clean, no inclination to start chaos anymore - that kinda became me with my 370Z irl (I can't afford a Supra) until traffic and people managed to get worse

If you have a way to play Vice City Stories I'd recommend it. That game is crazy underrated and I think a lot of people just never played it

I really want to buy GTA4 and the DLCs for my old 360 since havent played since it launched but knowing my luck theyre going to announce a remaster/port for next gen consoles.

Play the original versions

The original versions of the trilogy, starting with Vice City, then San Andreas then 3.

it's got voice acted npc quests and stuff. Dr. Dre is even an NPC in a large quest.

Also, Cyberpunk: 2077 is the best GTA game.

How? Just curious as the general consensus is that Vice City improved on every single aspect while exuding style and charm.
The only thing I can think of would be a preference in style personally.

Vice City isn't dated as hell, it's the best of the trilogy for the setting,atmosphere and music alone.

San Andreas is a close second because it improved upon a lot from previous two games but it doesn't have what Vice City has.

I'm itching to play Vice City again so I'm gonna gave to find a cheap PS2 and a copy of it.

I'm a weirdo and will replay a game partly, then get bored of it, then come back to it a few weeks/months later. I'm still in the process of replaying 4 and 5 and now I've started up San Andreas again. I never truly finished it when I first got the D.E., and then I transferred the game to my PS5 and the save data doesn't/didn't carry over, so screw it I'll replay it.

I think all of the games have their dated elements, but they're not bad enough to where I won't replay them. I am an admitted GTA fanboy though.

Sleeping Dogs is really good if you haven't played it.

The reboot is trash and still unplayable for the most part. It's cringy not funny like the original games were, lacks the charm of any of the originals, basically rehashes plots from all the original games and doesn't really add anything new to the series. There's a reason it failed miserablely

Saints Row and Saints Row 2, those were closer to GTA but 3 moved away from being a GTA clone and 4 went of the rails but it's a very fun game. 4 is the best in the series

I second Sleeping Dogs but I'd say it's closer to True Crime than GTA but there is some GTA elements in it.

It was originally going to be a True Crime game..

I like it, it's great fun.

The creativity and customization truly shines in this game just from how dynamically you can make changes. At any single point in time you can make drastic alterations to so many different things. Nearly all games restrict customization to only one or two spots at only select times. Easy to see why this was the selling point of the game since it is the only thing that does work well.

The game can look not great at times for a modern game and probably poorly optimized but with everything maxed on PC in certain spots it can be incredibly beautiful. The physics engine is very broken and when you first start playing most stuff makes no sense at all. However, once you get used to it and even enjoy how comical it is the game becomes very fun.

I still have a blast playing the game all the time until this day. Not a great game but I have so much fun and so many laughs playing it.
