Hopefully, you've got some kind of home insurance that will cover it. Shitty thing to steal your bike.

It was delivered this morning, around 10 30. A neighbor witnessed the theft. It's a low income apartment complex.

captain crook aka the porch pirate did it need ring/blink camera to monitor just the doorway and patio. it's not invasion of privacy on others if used correctly.

also to note: something that valuable, UPS/USPS/Fedex needs to have someone sign for that amount of expensive goods. if no one signs they need to leave a note that they'll make another attempt the next day (they do 3 attempts)

i hope it was worth committing some misdemeanors for them, i had my cpap supplies jacked off my porch last month (mask and filters). not valuable at all.

Im so happy I live in a small town Midwestern farm country place where this just doesnt exist. Ive been leaving my keys in my vehicle since I started driving 33 years ago. Houses are unlocked. People leave their garage doors open all the time overnight. Packages are never bothered. Hell if they are delivered to the wrong address someone will bring it to your house. I would despise living in a thieves den like you do.

I didn't know you could find them that cheap. I went shopping for one a few years ago and their cheapest model was about $1500.

I had huge boxes sitting on crossties for hours for all and sundry to see. So this isnt excatly true. They are looking for big boxes from amazon. Where I ordered from wasnt amazon. Product for the store since there wasnt anyone there from 2-5 to pick up a package and we just had sidewalks.

How I did it if it came to the house was get notified. I might be on the tractor, or running deliveries. I'd go pick it up and drop it off at the store.

I also believe amazon now has places you can pick stuff up now

my uncle paid close to 1500$ for a nice one. he had an extra battery. loved using it until his sciatica got bad. he stopped using it at that time. wish my grandpa didn't want it after his passing (wanted one of my uncles to get it, they would've had more use for it).

yeah, they have a location in my town if i really wanted to do it that way. would be a pain having to haul it a mile back home (actually would be really easy with a utility shopping cart).

Porch pirate culture absolutely sucks. Is it just a US thing? It wouldnt happen here or in the UK, but I dont know if its more widespread than just the US or not.

I didnt experience it, or know of anybody that did, in the 35 years I lived there. But then, parcels that cant be delivered are either left with neighbours or taken back to the depot to re attempt the next day.

Unfortunately it's up to the sender to pay extra for signature confirmation. FedEx doesn't care if someone steals it and they're not liable.

It hasn't happened to anyone I know either. Living in U.S. my entire life.

Parcels here are either left with neighbours, taken back to the depot, or 'hidden' (behind a side gate, or a bush, etc.). They aren't left openly on the doorstep. Something as big/valuable as a bike would be taken back without a signature or a photo of the resident receiving it.

In fact, unless you specified that the parcel could be left outside, the retailer is legally responsible for replacement, because the contract between you means that they must deliver the goods 'into your hands'. How they do that is on them, not you.

It really is. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, unless you give the retailer specific instructions otherwise, they are responsible for putting the goods, in the condition they were sold, in your hands. If the courier screws up, that's between them and the retailer. If it gets stolen, broken, or delivered to the wrong house, they are legally obliged to replace or refund.

I've never had to use it, but it's good peace of mind when ordering online.

Eh, a bike that cheap without UL certication would have ended up combusting during charging.

I have a NIU bike, it's got Bosch motors and Panasonic batteries, so it's not all cheap Chinese shit.

That's a good point.

There have been fatalities caused by cheap e-bikes catching fire while charging. Legit ones seem to start at $1,000, so I would be extremely nervous about a model that cost less than a third of that.
