Nah, CR has been doing that since covid.
It really upsets some people, but I don't really see why. It's not like they interact with chat, it loses nothing by being prerecorded other than the Talks Machina stuff.
I think early on, the players were getting distracted by things people in the chat were saying. Reminding them of things or even suggesting what they should do. Pre-recording solves the disruption issue.
