Planet Vegeta turning out to have been destroyed by Freeza and not an asteroid with him saying it was an asteroid.

Does that count as a retcon in this case? Wasn't that revealed in the same arc? Related to that, has there been any follow up to the revelation that Beerus ordered the destruction of the planet?
I know it was kind of a throwaway line in one of the movies, but I never watched all of Super or read the manga afterwards.
