Red XIII's personality/voice being a lie up to this point. I've never played the original and no recap I've ever seen has ever mentioned it. Obviously there was no voice acting but maybe his speech text was changed or something?

His new/"regular" voice is annoying as hell and I'm hoping it goes back after this chapter. He reminds me of Steve from Code Veronica.

I dont' remember but I think in the original game he was a child and he had forgotten himself or something. I forget what but there was definitely something that happened once you reached a certain point.

Iirc, there was an option in the Japanese version to permanently change his name to Nanaki. Is this true?

Also, there are moments when he sleeps when he talks like a child.

In the Japanese version, when he gets to Cosmo Canyon, he starts using words more befitting of a child, by habit.

In the original game it's said he tries to be older and more mature than he really is, and that he's the equivalent of a teenager.

Well, without voice acting in the OG, it's hard to say. But yeah, he never revealed how young he was until Cosmo Canyon in the original. It surprises the party even in the original.

I honestly love the energy his battle lines get after that reveal in Rebirth. I like the youthful Nanaki.

I don't mind the twist itself really, it's just the damn voice

From what I remember apparently his change in speech was very apparent in the Japanese version but didn't translate well in English
