What are you personally defining as "prepared"?
Does your girlfriend have maternity leave? Do you have paternity leave? Do you have an agreement on whether or not she'll go back to work or be a stay at home mom? If the latter, for how long? Are you both prepared for how difficult it will be for her to reenter the workforce if she stays home five years to get your kid into kindergarten? Are you aware that, if she goes back to work ASAP, paying for childcare is going to consume a large chunk of your income (to the point that one of you will essentially be working almost solely to pay for it)? Does she have health insurance that covers prenatal care? Are you happy with the school district you currently live in? Can your car accommodate a carseat? Do you know how to change a diaper? Are you mentally prepared for a child who will scream at all hours of the day and night? Are you okay with your kid blowing out their diapers five minutes after you change them?
Just curious. People who say they're "prepared" usually mean it in an incredibly nebulous and intangible way.
