GameFAQs forums have been one of the most negative hives I have ever endured in the history of my time on the internet. Never have I seen so much hate for video games and other people in a single cesspool. If you enjoy anything on this site, prepare for internet trolls and hipsters to tell you why it's bad.

Well, I'm 28 now. I'm at a part of my life where I have literally no reason to post on this cesspit anymore. I've long moved on with my life, started a new job, and became a part of eSports with Smash. I've moved onto other, friendlier communities where people treat each other like human beings, and I still use this site for walkthroughs or keeping up with my game collection.

When you use a Censor Bypassed word as a joke and the mods put you in Purgatory for 3 months, it gives you time to reflect on what you can spend your life doing when you're not browsing the forums. This is literally GameFAQs mods if you do this on their forums.

GameFAQs mods have been accused of being Nazis. Then there's a little blip saying you don't know history. Undermining other users' intelligence and their grasp of history doesn't change the fact that, 20 years later, GameFAQs runs an authoritarian regime. To this date, it is still the only forum that I'm even aware of that has "Suspension" and "Purgatory", and especially those that last for weeks or months, like you're some juvenile delinquent that needs to be grounded or something. It's the quickest way to drive members out of the board in this day and age. The mod feedback forum becomes a circlejerk of self-righteous authority, sentences aren't lenient, and you lose your "privileges" to post on social forums when there are thousands on the net. This high-horsed attitude the second reason I'm saying good riddance to this place.

14 years ago, I came to GameFAQs. Mere days before the second character battle, I began posting on Board 8. I learned of a ton of cool games I never would have played before coming here, especially those that posted about Tales of Symphonia and Resident Evil 4. It's literally how I got into them. There've been good times, and there've been better times. I loved making list threads and asking for help on otherwise simple solutions. But at this point, I feel there isn't anything I can get on the forums that I can't get on Reddit.

Also, Character Battle contests are an absolute joke. This was ruled many years ago, with StarCraft vs. Wind Waker being the most classic example of vote-rallying. L-Block and Draven later became the standard for which this was set, and again I say, good riddance to these types of battles. Undertale was perhaps the much-needed final nail in the coffin.

Well, I'll be checking FAQs and writing reviews at this point. But you'll never see me on the forums again. What's done and is done, and I can say I'm happy with moving on with my life and making better decisions.

It's been real, Board 8.
