Or he doesn't want Democrats in other states and districts to be tied to a guy who won't be popular there. He already said he expects Zohran to be elected after he won the primary and he looks forward to working with him, and he pretty much hinted he voted for a guy who expects to win.

I think that's a problematic mentality...the 2024 election showed that the appetite for centrist Democrats just isn't there on a nationwide level. This whole "But the country won't vote for a socialist radical" stuff? They had two eminently qualified centrist Democrats cut from a similar cloth to Chuck Schumer and both of them lost to Trump.

If Democrats want to make more of an impact on the national level, they have to actually start platforming candidates with transformative visions and goals about how to fix the economy...just running the same old "I support gay marriage but I'm also pro-business" type of candidates is not a recipe for success if the goal is to actually lead the Democrats in a new direction

Anyone freaking out about this has their priorities warped.

I do not think it is worth "freaking out" over, and certainly the solution isn't to vote Republican (obviously), but I do think that the Democratic party has to do some work. I think people are hungry for an economic populist who is actually going to deliver on issues like affordable housing, healthcare, and infrastructure. We have a candidate in Zohran Mamdani who went up against establishment billionaires' backed candidate and won. Schumer is from the same state - hell, he's from the same city. It's understandable to be a bit annoyed that the Democrats aren't backing him in greater force.
