Oops_All_Berrys posted...Why does the movie need to be remade, what does making it live action do to improve it?
It's easy money.
Also, while people who like animation may disagree, much of the general public simply don't prefer the look of cartoons, don't consider it a serious entertainment medium, and prefer live action.
Making live action versions of previously famous cartoon movies means Disney gets to appeal to the general public's preference for live action with an IP that's already widely recognized.
