I would not accept an answer to something that is contradicted to what my eyes saw, no. That is one of the dumbest things you can possibly do, because it means you are a sheep.
Put it another way: You see a duck. The duck quacks. Someone tells you that what you're seeing is actually a wooly mammoth.
You now believe that the duck is a wooly mammoth and would stake your life on it.
