What are some pros and cons?
Back in March I started a new job, after 10 years in a factory, driving a flatbed truck with a forklift on the back (they call it a moffett) and deliver building supplies to construction jobs.
So far I'd rate it a solid 7.
Pros:
-More freedom. I can do the job mostly how I want and I don't have a boss/supervisor breathing down my neck. I'm not stuck inside the same building day in and day out.
-Low stress. I took about a four dollar pay cut leaving my former job to do this but for my stress and mental health it was worth it.
-Relaxed environment. My coworkers are all pretty positive, they don't hate coming in every day, and they hardly ever have pointless complaints.
Cons:
-Extreme weather. Back in summer I was making deliveries in extreme heat and I've delivered in the rain. Doing my job in the cold come winter is going to be unpleasant.
-Low OT opportunities. I'd like to make a little extra cash by working some OT but whatever.
-Lowest rung on the ladder. Because I'm the newest driver, when we have slow days with only a couple deliveries, the loads go to the higher seniority drivers (there's 3 of us) and I get stuck at the shop doing bitch work for the other departments.

So I reached into the glove box, another liquor store went down.
