This 45 y/o New York Man gets 2 YEARS for gruesomely BEHEADING A CAT!!!

45 y/o Creep, John Gehrlein from Albany, New York was sentenced to 2 years in prison for the gruesome BEHEADING of a CAT and now he won't be allowed to own pets ever again once released!!

A jury found him guilty of felony aggravated animal cruelty as Animal Advocate, Donna Farnworth said "So many times these people receive a slap o the wrist and they do not serve serious jail time and this is a bridge crime and i'm happy to see that the judge did the right thing. I don't believe it's enough but i'm very happy to see that they finally did the full extent of the law"

A cat was found decapitated in his backyard last December as investigators said the cat's head was only attached to its body by its SPINAL CORD!

He admitted to beheading the cat but didn't provide explanation for why he did it and was convicted under Buster's Law..

He should most likely be in a mental institution and not prison. My dad told me about someone he knew that seemed normal but would hanging cats on the overpasses above highways. Went to the local mental institution.

I voted no because I don't think most animals suffer to the same degree that people do when they're killed. In particular, I'm not convinced that most animals, while they're dying, worry about what will happen to them after they die. But some might, since we always seem to be learning that animals are more intelligent than we thought, and if somebody is killing animals on the level of cats, it's probably only a matter of time before they start killing other people; so we can't just let people kill any animals they want to.

No, animals are property under the law and that is how they should remain. I mean, we are a society that lives off eating animals so it would be a little absurd to consider them our equals. Life is nice at the top of the food chain.

No, but they should still get reasonable sentences. Given that he owned the cat, 2 years is fair. If it was somebody else's cat murdered in such a way, I'd want to see 4 or 5 years.

Unfortunately, we don't believe in absolute control over property. Zoning laws are a thing, CPS is a thing, and animal cruelty laws are a thing. Even slaughterhouses have to obey certain animal cruelty laws.

Seems like a fair sentence.

Animal abuse and killing is a gateway to doing the same against people, we have to stop it at the source immediately when sick freaks like this act out.
