Can Money buy happiness?
My 3ds friend code is 2852-7795-4118
No. Happiness comes from within.
Usually when something physical makes you happy, you eventually want more
Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy material possessions and/or the love of others, either of which will get you happiness.

So really, money is the most objective way to measure happiness.
It can solve problems that make you unhappy, which is pretty darn close.

Absolutely yes it can make you happy. It can also make you depressed.

This. Money itself can't bring happiness, but it can make finding it much less difficult.

to an extend

as long as you have enought money for a car, food, a roof and enterteniment money is important but studys show that once you have enought for that it doesnt matter if you are middle class or billionare
Past a small amount of income (you know, enough for food and shelter and stuff) it has pretty low effects on overall happiness. So I guess you could say it does, but with substantial diminishing returns.

No it can't. It can't replace or replicate true sources of happiness such as the love of a parent, child or soulmate. It also can't create harmony or tranquility within one's spirit and many, many other things.

Yes but eventually the happiness will subside so it's not permanent.

I think it can enhance happiness, but not create happiness. Relationships, good health, and experiences is where happiness lies.

So yes, money can give you happiness.

Relationships can be lost by lack of money, good health requires the cash to buy healthy ingredients and you need money to go do stuff so money is the root of all happiness.

Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy things that will make you happy.

Imagine a billionaire with a terminally ill child. Having more money isn't going to bring happiness.
I guess what I am trying to say is that no matter how much money you have, money alone will not make you happy. You need more in life.

Nobody said possessing more money makes you happy.

If you're a billionaire, you can stop working, buy things to distract you and ease your pain. If you're poor you just have to suffer and keep on grinding your job while watching your kid die painfully because you can't afford treatment. This is even assuming you get to see your kid because the mother left you because you were so poor you were a detriment to the family and lost everything else to child support.

Sadness is the opposite of happiness, so if you can be less sad, you're becoming more happy, and in this instance you are using money to buy said happiness.

I'm not loaded and I'm a happy person. If I had more money I'd certainly experience less stress though. Money just isn't the core cause of happiness. There's a lot of contributing factors.

The topic isn't "Is money the only way to become happy?".

that billionaire could get the best medical care available for their child and make sure their child was as happy and healthy as possible.

look at someone below the poverty line with a terminally ill child. they may not even be able to afford basic health insurance and treatments to help their child. You're bound to feel worse with less money in that situation.

money can alleviate stress, which can make it more likely to feel content and happy.

Nope.
Not technically, but a lack of it can absolutely bring unhappiness. Money can buy a lot of things that will facilitate happiness, though.

I honestly feel like it can, to a large extent. Not actual happiness, but I guess contentment is a better word, and comfort. It can definitely buy you a better life unless you're rich to begin with,

Not completely, but it absolutely helps.

When we talk about money we have to think about what's behind it. Do goods and services make us happy? Food, shelter, entertainment, etc? That's what you get with money. This is an obvious thing but sometimes people tend to treat money as if it were something different.
In the world we live in today absolutely yes it can.

as long as you aren't an idiot about being rich, yes money can buy happiness.
true people will fake being friends with a rich person. People will fake being friends with a poor person though to a lesser extent.
But you can be rich, act poor yet still be happy knowing your actually rich.

There are very few circumstances which can't be improved by material wealth. To the sick child example, a rich man with a sick child is far better off than a poor man with a sick child.

The rich person might actually be hit harder from it because they probably would have been able to try all sorts of expensive or experimental treatments, and then to have them all fail in the end and watch your child die would just drive home the point about there being so many things money cannot buy.

A poor person might be able to delude themselves and think "If I had more money, my child wouldn't have died." The rich person has a very different perspective. "Despite all my money, I was still powerless to stop my child from dying." It strips away your ability to delude yourself and reminds you that the universe is a cold place that does not care about you or your well-being.
