Sacramento City Council Approves ‘Advance Peace’ Program
After a violent weekend of suspected gang-related shootings, Tuesday the Sacramento City Council took action to reduce the bloodshed.
It approved a controversial program called Advance Peace, which offers cash stipends to gang members who remain peaceful.
They been doing this for years and it actually does work, reduce crime and save the city money

My current job would pay way more than that and I live on the other side of the world for starters. Plus it's California . Rest assured though, if this is still intact decades later and I have nothing to lose I might go to california, increase the state's mortality rate and get paid for it.

My current job would pay way more than that and I live on the other side of the world for starters. Plus it's California . Rest assured though, if this is still intact decades later and I have nothing to lose I might go to california, increase the state's mortality rate and get paid for it.

Hollywood Park Casino did this in Inglewood. They paid off the gangs in the area to not start any shit which might scare off their white and Asian patrons. If any gangs from out of the area showed up, or a member starts shit, the local gangs chased them off, turned them into the cops, or just straight up murdered them and dumped the body outside the city.

This sounds basically like mobsters and protection money...
Edit: So I went and looked up what was going on because literally handing over money to gangs sounded absolutely insane and not at all something people would literally do.
They're handing out stipends to children suspects of gang violence after going through reform programs and getting them into jobs and stuff. That's radically different from what it sounded like from the title. I still think the stipends is pretty dumb, but I agree with everything else.
