Yes, but only to modify stats/Pokemon to legal/ intended limits

This. As long as it's something normally obtainable in the game without hacking, go ahead and hack it.

Also, hacking something outside the legal limits to use only in single player is fine too. I once did a Pikachu solo run in Yellow, but hacked it (after I got the 4th badge) so the Pikachu had Raichu's stats, but it would still learn Pikachu's level-up moves and still follow me around like Pikachu does in Yellow.

In the original Red and Blue I would always play until I was able to exploit the missingno glitch and duplicate rare candy, be unable to resist doing it, then lose interest immediately because I made the game too easy.
Professionals are predictable- it's the amateurs who are dangerous.
I never used it outside of the battle tower, but I had somebody hack me a Wondertomb back in Diamond/Pearl because it's practically impossible to beat the blatantly cheating AI in otherwise. (And even then it wasn't exactly a gimme thanks to the deal with Fire Fang ignoring Wonder Guard for some reason.)

If it's offline, sure. Online, no way.
No in general, but yes for the older game events you can't trigger without them (Celebi, etc).

To be honest I don't see how the games could even be enjoyable without the thrill of finding and catching the Pokemon yourself.
Do unto others what your parents did to you.
I gen mythicals. The current method for obtaining them is so stupid. Why would I wait five years to go to GameStop and get some code for Marshadow when I can put my SD card into my computer and create one in five minutes?
bro
I support hacking until it comes to hacked events/shinies being traded off as legit. Hack all you want by yourself, trade with people who know that your Pokemon are hacked, I don't care. But if you ever think about trading your hacks as legits, that's where it crosses the line.
Single player go wild. Online, keep it legal but who cares if you got it legit or not. Not everyone has the free time dorks that get mad about hacking do.

Do whatever you want single player. Don't really agree with legit hacks but at least it's not giving them an unfair advantage in the actual match. just a sign of laziness and unwillingness to do the footwork. When I don't feel like doing the footwork, I play on Showdown.

I turned my hoothoot into a Mewtwo with flamethrower and other crazy moves on Gold/Silver. I used to have a Brainboy for the game and it would let me hack the Hell out of the gameboy ones.

I believe I still have it too. Would even let me change my ID number so I could match it to the radio tower every day.
