Did I throw away money?

I purchased extended warranty on the following products for the following lengths in the past year:

*Neato Robotic Vacuum Cleaner - 5 years
I assumed that this complex machine will easily break within five years of ownership, so purchased it.

*Cast Iron Traveling Lawn Sprinkler - 4 years
I assumed the cast iron will rust and will make this sprinkler worthless, so bought an extension for $5.

*3D Printer - 3 years
I assumed a 3D printer is a very complex machine, and checked replacement parts for it... The extended warranty was cheaper than major replacement parts (like the motors, extruder, and the motherboard).

My techie friend is saying I wasted my money and extended warranties are complete waste... Did I fuck up?
1st one was a waste

other 2. definitely needed the extended warranty.

They don't sound unreasonable, to me. How much did they cost?

This

All three could be fine depending on cost

And how much did the items themselves cost
They're usually a scam because they don't actually honor them
We cant tell until you need them or not

Product - Product Price - Warranty Price
Neato - $399.99 - $39.99
Sprinkler - $74.99 - $5.23
3D Printer - $399.99 - $44.99

All purchased from SquareTrade.
Depends... if the warranty is cheap and long enough, why not? I treat my stuff like gold, but got a bunch of dud PS4 consoles. A couple wouldn't play specific games (which varied between consoles), and the worst offender would lose video, sound, and/or internet every so often...
Sup, bro?!
Definitely not a waste. A lot of the things I buy from Best Buy (as my go to electronics store), I purchase Geek Squad protection on them. Anything goes wrong, I can walk into the store and leave with new ones without any hassle.

Only thing that makes me think that's a waste are non-moving purchases, such as 4KUHD TV. It's not going anywhere, but my parents would say it's a good buy to get a protection plan on it. eh.
My sig is here. Yup.
Look into your credit card. A lot automatically include a warranty on certain items.

My business stats class taught me how easy it is to find the right length warranty to only have a very small minority take advantage of it

Did you make sure to use a credit card that adds an additional year or two of warranty on top of that?

It adds a year or two, but not on top of the additional warranty; only on the manufacturer warranty.
You wasted money on everything except the 3D printer.
Mod me? You don't even know me!
